Ok i just got the micro korg xl a couple weeks ago and love it so far..However i didnt like it as much as i do now cuz i struggled with getting it linked up.
I know there are some fellas on here that insist with feedback have you read the manual ...read the manual..Look i **** could write the manual after i get new equipment becuse sometime i spend weeks readin that **** and still struggle. the problem is those manuals do not specify every piece of equipment by brand make and model and how it interacts with their product. Much respect to everyone on this forum so that comes wit no hate.
Here it is for those who jus linked up the new micro korg xl and want to record a track to there 2000xl.
first...
midi in on mpc to midi out on korg
midi out on mpc to midi in on korg
As you know and if you do not know on the back of mpc midi in there are 2 A and a B..
Lets say you have your midi in on mpc insterted into the a slot
Set a track on the mpc main screen to midi channel a1 (there are 16 channel....16a's and 16b's just make sure you set to corresponding a or b with whatever you have it pluged into)
Import after you have that set on mpc (for expample let say we have a midi track 1a) then we need to turn microkorgxl on and go to full edit ..scroll to midi channels and set it to channel corresponding on mpc so as my example stated i chose on mpc a1 then on korg i would want channel 1.
Also note and please correct me if i am wrong but you need both mpc and korg running into mixer so you can here both. this can probebly be corrected by midi clock but i have figured that yet so if you know please let me know. Thanks.
If you read the manual it tells you to do all this extra shit and i think it was mis leading and confusing..when i figured it out it seemed like 20 steps less than what they seemed to state.
Last just to let you know the korg is amazing and the usb computer editing software is endless to experiment but you will be limited to how many sounds you can record off the korg you can get at the most two and i belive that is accomplished by splitn the keyboard.
