good bass samples?

Anybody know any records with good basslines or bass hits to fatten up my beats. thanks in advance.

why do people ask questions like this?? there is bass on so many records dawg just dig. chop one note out and 16 levels. you can even filter down most sounds and make bass notes with them. no disrespect to u for askin this but u can get a bass sound off almost any record

reggae or dub or some ron carter, think ogically and u'll find the answer
also u can filter and keybaord piano sound to get a base some horns and trumpets also just mess around ull find something that works

My go to favorite is about 1 bar of fat juicy Bass stabs off the intro to the 2nd to the last song on the 2nd side of Roy Ayers..Red, Black and Green.
Dammit, when I get more time..I will find the title of the track out for you.
This 1 bar bass solo is perfect for chopping and or looping or whatever else you can think of!

old jazz records with double bass -- they usuallly have a bit of a bass solo.

Anything with Larry Graham on it. Sly And The Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Prince...

yeah i have gotten so sick of dealing wit searching for bass, whether samples from songs, or patches in synths, so I went and bought a bass yesterday. It should be in my hands by mid week. Im amped up.

try some ron carter or charles mingus but there are loads of sample packs that feature ill bass solos of dudes that actually play or u can rock trilogy.

What kind of bass did you get? It's definitely the way to go man. I was a bassist before a beatmaker and I thought I would use my bass occasionally...now messing around on my bass is how I start the concept for a lot of my beats. If you know how to read music (or just learn the notes on the bass), you can layer stuff on a keyboard or other instrument really well. I still low end my bass in the mpc though, it gets soooooo fat.

To the original poster: If your in the crate digging section (assuming that you do dig crates), just listen through some records until you find a song with a good bassline or a few bass hits that you like, then just experiment with your low pass filters...you'll get something.

there are tons of virtual instruments with great brass sounds and dope brass sample cd's

All records to be honest with you (well imo) I take the bass sounds and tweak them out to get what i want.
If you can find records with guitars those have good bass as wel

technically correct, but if youre looking to get bass thats going to stand out you need to dig and listen carefully.

it helps if you eq on the way in.
filtering in the box doesnt make the bass bigger, just isolates it a bit, at the cost of loosing the higher, more audible 'bass' frequencies (those that help the bass stand out in the mix).
picking a track with great bass is crucial if you want something thats really going to be heard in the mix. ive had a lot luck with hammond organ records (not jazz - more chintzy shit).
you have to listen very carefully sometimes as the best bass tones might be played only once -16 levels/instrument pgm that.

theres a lot of ways to do this though and it depends on what youre sampling, so my answer may not help

also, generate some sine waves and get them on the mpc, there was a thread a while back about using the 1000 as a synth - i aint searchin for it now - but its out there and you can get some very loud bass that way, thought you may need to mix it with some sampled sounds to stop it sounding too clean

Theirs literally tons of records out there with open bass hits, if you look hard enough.
Jeff Beck has a few good ones that come to mind, where theirs loads of all kinds of one-shots..drums, bass etc..
