How does MPC connect to Mbox?

How does the MPC connect to the Mbox? Is it connected to the line inputs or the mic lines? And i know that you have to turn the green light to line/mic, depending on device. And how would i use the 8 outputs on the MPC if i have that connection capability? How would that hook up to the Mbox? And what type of cords are required? And lastly, what type of cord is needed to sync the Midi from the MPC to the pro tools? Please help......

MPC hooks up to the MBOX via Main Outs (L+R) to the (L+R) LINE inputs on the MBOX.
You can also hook the MPC to the MBOX via S/PIDF Cable (digital).

The MBOX cannot take 8 inputs. You will need a Digi OO2 or Digi 003, which has 8 inputs.

If you are using an MBOX. You can connect a midi cable out from your mpc in to the
MBOX. Connect the MBOX to your PC. Thats how you would sync the MPC with Protools.

Thanks alot! Appreciate the response. I have an older model Mbox model....the model before the 1 pictured....what type of midi cable is used to hook up to mbox? There isnt a midi connection on it.....it would either have to be thru mic lines, 1/4th jacks, or regular size connection as far as hooking to the mbox...

you really should read up on the differences between midi and audio....


the original Mbox has no midi capabilities, you need a seperate box for that. Something like the maudio series.

If your MBOX has no MIDI, then you will need one of these.

Thats cool....no problem. But its as if the MBox isnt in sync with the pro tools period. To sync it for midi, i will probably need 1 of those cables, but if im tracking the songs out regularly, i should still get a signal on the pro tools that im at least hooked up correctly, and im getting nothing! I know its something simple, i just dont know what it is....

Make sure to select your MBOX as your Audio Device in Protools. Under MIDI Devices you would select the UNO.


Create a New Stereo TRACK and Press the (R) button on the TRACK.

You should be able to hear the MPC now.
