I bought an MPC-1000 on ebay under the assumption that it had the new pads and I think it does but I'm not entirely sure. Is there a simple way to feel the difference in the pads?

Sorry, I had trouble finding what exactly to search for but I really appreciate the help. I'll check better next time.

Nope. My understanding leads me to believe that the only black ones that come stock with the new pads are the ones with the black backs.

easiest way for me to find out when i got my mpc brand new I called Akai and they took the serial number on the back which tells them the year my mpc was made which also indicates weather it would have the new pads or not.

according to the guy I spoke to the mpc's that was made after a certain date (cant remember the date now. lol) will have the new pads.

lucky enough for me it did.

Surely any Akai sold from akai dealers as new will now have the new pads? sorry a little of topic. I'm actually also going to get an mpc 1000 soon from Dv247....I'll be checking it in the shop though.

2) not all akai dealers will have the new ones, if they can flog you a older version then believe me they will. you will never know and they still getting paid. lol

BTW... good luck wid your mpc, hope you get a good deal.
