ok i was looking for a working microtech pcd-25 for my mpc60 but invane so i find the way to make a cheap CF card by myself... the only lack or differences is that is not hotswap so u have to turn off the mpc in order to remove the card.. but it's a long way cheaper and due the fact working pcd microtech is seems to be rare...

and it's a good cf card reader with the support to be fixed where the floppy is now...

then i find this is quite ok to do the scsi to ide conversion

and then u should use a scsi 50 pole ribbon cable to reach the scsi of the mpc... i found this kit is pretty well explained here

and so for less than 50 dollars for the scsi to ide and the cf card reader and dunno what for the kit u will have a perfect (in time) digital store solution for your mpc...

do you have it from the USA (from these ebay links) or from europe?
i am also from europe so i think i will go for an european product (cause of the duty fees etc..)

BTW:
i have a SCSI CF Card reader from my 2kxl (i never used it) with a 40 pin adapter. do you know how i can use this thing in my 3k (50 pin) or is it impossible?

yeah the prob in europe is that u have to ship to a friend in usa and the forward to europe... and u know that **** TAX...
well i dunno... 40 pin are u sure is not ide? do u have a picture of it?

I have been using the combination of a SCSI-->IDE adapter (ACARD model) and a simple IDE-->CF adapter in several samplers. So far, it does the job properly in the

- EMU Ultra 6400
- YAMAHA SU700
- OLD Amiga 500 Computer

The Acard solution is working absolutely nice, but be aware that there are standard SCSI and UW SCSI models. Usually, you'll need the 50pin (non ultra wide) model for use in older equipment.

It did not work in the Roland SP-808, maybe due to the internal file system.

I will receive my MPC60 SCSI board soon and I hope that the ACARD solution will work.
To replace the floppy, I recently got an addonics 3,5" bay CF cardreader. They are quite expensive and my personal experience is that even the most simplest IDE-->CF will do the job since the specs don't need any additional electronics to be compatible.

Good luck in tuning your samplers or whatever with some fresher solutions to save your beloved samples.

I own the "ACARD 7720U SCSI-IDE". The packaging is very similar to the one
mentioned above in this thread, so I guess it's the same product.

Although this adapter is expensive (roundabout 60Euros in Europe) I still recommend it
for its easy operation. So far, I never had hardware conflicts that could by solved by
replacing the SCSI-IDE adapter solution by a real SCSI drive.

ok perfect so "ACARD 7720U SCSI-IDE" is a fix point, it's sure that it works
about the ide reader i think more or less every cf IDE card reder should work...

the shame is that they are not hotswap... i try to find an hotswap reader, i just find this



but it's out of stock anywhere... and i don't know if this multi reader could work with the scsi to ide...

when i was looking for that i don't find any cable like that... but , as the mpc forum link i provide, u can use something like this

and a male to male adapter like this one

in this way if u buy 2 external internal adapter u can keep the scsi port on the back of your mpc then connect, of course you have to find a 50 pin scsi ribbon cable with 3 connection
