Advice with this

Im still a newbie so im hoping the more experienced guys could help me out with this.

It starts with a sample of these singing childeren and at 0:31 the sample gets chopped it seems.

I would like to know how i go about doing that. Do i have to chop the sample in little pieces and apply them on each pad on the mpc and play them randomly to get a nice loop or are there others way to do this?

I'd really like to get some advice and maybe some tips on how to do this.

what kind of mpc u got?

i have a mpc 500

then ur gonna hav a helluva time chopping with no wave guide lol. Post in the 500 forum definately get u some help too. Also look for mpc maid, it will help with chopping samples. But yeah u gotta chop em up and assign em to pads. Good luck dude

That's pretty much how its done

Chop up the sample either by knowing exactly how u want to chop or experimenting,

Very basic chops here

yeah wit a 500 it may be a chore.

in your case wit the 500, you may wanna get into using recycle or audacity to chop your samples up on a nice big pc screen so u can easily see the waveforms and create hitpoints "chops" on the transients you want.

then use a program like MPC MAID to create programs from your chops.

once you do both of those things, you can drop the folder with the chopped audio files and a .pgm file onto ur CF card and just load the program up in the 500 and play.

Audacity is free. Recycle is not but u can probably find and download a bootleg version if u know how to use torrent sites.
as for MPC MAID. it is free as well. Search the forum.. I have a thread about mpc maid that you would probably find helpful.

recycle and mpc maid is how I do in depth chopping. on simpler fast chops I just use the 2500.
but in your shoes, I would use recycle and mpc maid full time.

Or you can just chop it manually and use you're ears. Its really not that hard!

How is the combatability between the 500 and the 1000? From everything I've read, chopping samples on the 500 is not a very easy thing to do. What I'm wondering is how easy would it be to chop everything on the 1k, then load it on the 500 to mess with sequencing? Can you open 1k projects on the 500, or would I just have to load the wav files and start from scratch?
