Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey everyone,

I have this real punchy trumpet loop and every time the loop starts over I hear this big gross click. I tried adjusting the attack and the decay, but even if I adjust both the attack and the decay all the way I still get this click. It is just like the click that we probably all get on an 808 kick but when I adjust the attack on the 808 kick the click goes away.

the click is coming from the loop point...it probably ends not on zero or something...to get a smooth loop you need to make sure both loop points are at zero db..are at the centreline cross overpoint on your wave display....

got sound forge?

I do have sound forge and I imagine you are right. It was looping in sound forge fine ill check tomorrow if the wee bit of a change will make the difference.

if it loops fine in sound forge doesn't always mean it would translate...id find a new loop point or use the cross fade function in sound forge...

you gotta leave a little overhang cause the mpc trims 30ms off the end of every sample. to prevent clicking, or therefor cause it.

dont be to tight when trimming your loops.

you have cut the sample off at the transient i.e-half way through a sound wave..adjust the loop or make the sample shorter then use attack and decay

depends on how he is looping...if the loop is going to the very end then yes may wanna add 30ms of silence- dead easy go to sample...unplug any inputs...same 1 sec of dead air....attach to the end of your sample in the edit screen....

BUT if the loop is in the middle of the wave and has a tail this wont help as the loop is not even getting to the end of the sample before it clicks which is therefore either a loop point problem..your loop points aren't on 0 db so you should change your loop points or use a cross fade in soundforge...

when setting loop points in the middle of a sample you do have to be tight so it doesn't click...
