Hmmm...

Well, I try to not to work with anyone that doesn't have a decent budget plain and simple most of the time it ends up becoming a waste of time in the end.

I contact majority of my clients myself most of the time it's as simple as opening your mouth and speaking as well as having “good” material. I also have a manager (which helps in some cases) he does things for me that I either can't do myself or have no time to do for example ringtone deals. He's a producer himself so that brings in a pool of connections right off the jump.

Now my clients that pay 3k and up are generally Software companies, Tv companies I do a lot of sound design and jingles or what some will call background music.

I can't really describe a process because its not really.... emm it's very minute I guess. Generally what happens is. I get a call or email from Native, Bet or (insert company I have done work for) they will let me know what they have going on and what they need. I create it send the product to them via email and collect a royalty check. Really that simple not a complex process.

If i'm looking at a company I want to work with I just give them a call let them know who I am what I do them dropped my credits with a small press kit

and that's really about it

That's cool man, glad your catchin some flow for your efforts. I just have one question though...

Don't you think having a producer as a manager is a bit of a conflict?? Yeah he has contacts, probably good ones but wouldn't he keep them for himself??? I'm thinking jealousy wise... If you make blazing fire compared to him.. will he really want to give away his links??? You may takeover his clientelle lol

Not everyone is on that jealousy tip see the thing about my team of people (Producers/beat-makers/writers/managers etc) is we don't need 1 another to make money we know what our strengths and weakness are right off the bat. I'm the youngest they know I have an ear for whats current and I have the ability to simplify things where as the older people in the group/camp are a little older (not much) have worked with Prince have worked with Motown have been doing this and making money off of it for years. They over produce a little for todays music so we were are all together we are learning from one another and collaborating its never just a give give situation. There are are plenty of things I do way better than my manager and visa versa thats just the way it goes someone will always be better at something why hate when you can profit from it?

If I take over my manager's clients?? 1 that's impossible the guy is into too many genre's of music while I specialize in only a few not to mention if that were to happen that would be good because he'd then be getting paid and doing 0 work because all the work was done in the initial meetings. This is why I love working with older people they understand the importance of putting out product and landing the placements/having a fast turnaround rather than face of the product. That's problem with people that don't make money on their own. Or just have 1 source of income in the music game.

The reason why he has turned into a manager is because he knows there are other producers with mad talent and he cant do everything himself(we know our limits) not to mention that's kind of what he was for OM records (well he was the A&R)

Now unlike other management contracts mine is open ended and he doesn't get a cut on anything below 3k if I open a door for him/ bring him in on a project that I landed myself im getting a cut and visa versa. That's just how you do honest business not to mention its better to take 20% of income from x amount of projects than it is to just take a 1 chunk deal.

Sorry for the Novel long story short no its not a conflict at all never has been we work as a team.

Try to put some music on movies too. Like low budget movies from upcoming directos etc. Your name will start to create buzz on another industry besides music. Maybe one day you'll lucky to put something on a better movie that will reach more people.

If you know some nice people in that industry they can pay you good, 'cause they have a certain amount of money to do the movie.

Thats' not necessarily true. I don't know why people keep saying you have to jump on albums before you sell. Both unknown MCs and those at the top are looking for hot beats, regardless! true being on someone else's will fetch you clientele, but that is in no way the only way about it.

you can list a beat for 500 bucks exclusive and never sell it or sell an mp3 of the same beat for 10 bucks but sell it 50 times

an artist is gonna either give the song away free or sell the mp3's of the song for a dollar yet YOU can sell the mp3 of the instrumental for 10 times that or more over and over and over.

True, it is beatmaking not producing, but hey ya make show for all the hours tweaking away

http://www.myflashstore.net/flash/istore.swf?user_id=229 that's all ya need attach a domain name to it and promote it to the right rappers/singers etc
