My new 500 did not come with a CF card...what can I do

Should I send the 500 back to the shop, it didn't come with the CF Card, not desperate for the sounds obviously, but the principle of it - I paid for the card.

Have contacted the shop to see if it was omitted by accident.

Can I get the card any other way?

Don't send it back, the shipping alone would cost more than the CF card.
Just ask that they send you it.
If they don't, buy a 128MB CF for dollars, and download the factory contents from someone.
Really though you're not missing much, just buy a 2GB CF and make your own samples.

Well if it was brand new, I would exchange it. Considering that you bought it down the block.

Thanks for the help, I did a bit of searching and found someone who put up a link for a zip file containing all the stock sounds, I'll just rummage and see if I can find an old CF card of mine to stick em on.

Can you send me that zip file? I had the EXACT same issue. No sounds :/

same shit happened to me when i bought my 1K. I called guitar center told them the deal, walked in with the unit, exchanged for another NEW sealed one. Probably overkill, but you buy something new, you want everything to be included........obviously......

The stock sounds aren't all that great...

If you're hard up for samples try youtube, radio, vinyl, mp3 player, microphone, synths, vst's...

You are going to want to learn how to record n' chop anyways.

edit - just saw the original post was dated several months ago and has been bumped...

you will quickly realise that the card is only 128MB which is fine to start with, but as your own personal collection of samples grows you will prefer to have more sounds stored on the card, rather than on your computer and having to plug them in and transfer them across. this is a very minor inconvenience, but most people eventually start to think like this.

no one in their right mind buys an mpc for the stock sounds that come on the card - they are examples only the whole idea is that you sample your own stuff.
