It's the opposite, it isn't accessible or powerful enough. I desire simplicity and creative fun, not a math calculator. The MPC is not designed for this, but neither is the Beat Thang. At least the MPC lets me do things I need to do, the Beat Thang doesn't do much more than repeat the pattern you tap like the old Simon game.

Maybe things will change. Maybe in 6 months the MPC will look like a joke compared to the Beat Thang. But they're publicizing it now, and asking people to buy now, so I have to judge now. Right now, it doesn't do much, and what it does do it does in an unintuitive way. They haven't even polished the basics yet.

I don't hate. The Kangz are wack, but fun, and I've got nothing against them. Hopefully they succeed in whatever it is they're doing. I just tell it as it is, as I see it. If tomorrow things are different, I'll be posting about that instead.

If by funny you mean uncomfortably embarrassing, then yes, I agree.

dude, he wasn't PRETENDING... that's what i'm saying. he at one point even attacked me for "talking sh!t" about the beatkangz and was all gung-ho for standing up for you guys UNTIL he got that email about the scheme... he then realized that what i'd been saying [as well as plenty of others on this board] was true. he did what anyone who cares for this forum would do and call them out on it. he didn't make anything up. only snakes here are the kangz.

Can someone explain what they don't like about their reseller program?

This is standard stuff now, modern marketing. Most bands have street teams they use to spread their stuff, but they only pay them with merchandise. At least the Kangz are paying a % of cash.

I figured people would be used to it by now. Marketing is everywhere now, it infiltrated our homes, it's part of the culture.

true would be nice if kangz could knock down the price by letting peeps choose which soundsets they want pre loaded cos i do not want 300 beat box sounds that useless to me so if i could save 100 by taking them out and taking out some other sounds that would be dope.

they should have fully maxed out 999 thena basic model with no sounds at 400 then let peeps choose what packs they want added so maybe the extra packs would incrementally bring the unit up to maxed out status.

What marketing, some off us in here saw what was going down on page 10-15, the guys who came on propping the thang as well as the thangs themselves were amateurish in there conduct.
A lot off us said it the beat thang product is the software $150.00 nothing else is going to come out nothing off worth to the music industry at least, and that is not hating that’s just being real and truthful.
I don’t mind the hustler or the hustle but if I tell you it’s a hustle don’t call me a liar or hating or don’t know the diffrence for knowing what it is.

I think it was the way AJA presented it originally. People got hopes up that they could actually be a territory sales rep for the company. Instead, the program has more in common with multi-level marketing programs. You must buy your own hardware unit if you want a demo. No territory. You can bring in sales reps under you and make commission off of their sales.

I won't diss them for that. I thought the email was actually veryclear and the program seemed pretty well thought out. It just didn't meet the expectations AJA originally set.

That seems to be the main problem with the Thang right now, it doesn't meet the expectations originally set. That's the danger of overhyping a product, remember the Segway? That's actually an interesting transportation device, but compared to the hype it's a joke, so all that disappointment got merged into the Segway name, and now the original value is lost.

The Beat Thang could be good for what it is, targeted at the kind of people who prefer that kind of approach. The problem is, it was hyped up at NAMM, and here, as a professional audio device produced by an independent company, aimed at cutting the throat of Akai. Based on the way it was presented, a lot of us assumed it was going to surpass the MPC in all regards.

It does in some ways, the specs are higher because it uses a laptop paradigm rather than the old tech Akai bases the MPC on. But it is false advertising. Stuff like how they said it comes with 256MB RAM stock, and can be upgraded higher... we assumed that it was like an MPC, and that meant it worked the same, so the RAM was a limiting factor. It isn't, it uses SD for samples.

For the price, the Beat Thang really needs to be way more powerful than the MPC. It is, but only in the superficial ways. Like it has lots of proprietary built-in sounds, looks stylish, has custom grillz, etc. That might be worth paying extra for if it's a Christmas present from your rich parents to try and fill you with some self-esteem because you have no friends at school. But for people like me who just want to have sound utilities in a little box to replace a laptop, it isn't.

I still think the Beat Thang could possibly go down that road someday. But all its push is in the direction of being more about glam than slam. I don't want to wear it on a chain like a fashionable accessory, as they said it could. To me that's so ridiculously wack. Just make it do boring functional things, and do them well, then I'll worry about the style it represents.

Did you know the inputs and outputs have a soft-limiter? It's apparently on by default, and it doesn't seem to have a setting to disable it. That's easily changed, but it's just another indication of who this is built for. I don't want anyone choosing what goes in my signal chain. If you can't even set levels without clipping what are you doing with a $1,000 sampler?

Yes it is cleaver if you can get guys to spend $299.99 for your product not 999.99 they have to know there demographics this machine all the specs they put out did the make any sense especially to experience buyers off gear that know how gear should work in stand alone as well as in every bodies workflow.

This is for inexperience individual that are limited in there understanding about music production equipment as well basic knowledge off engineering and mixing.

To even get close to the $299.99-399.99 price tag this machine have to be dumb down even further to get suckers I meant prospective buyers to be interested to move the product and sell it to family and friends.

I say go the play station, way, strategy stick a blueray in it that will work.

You should delete those links, has nothing to do with the Beat Thang.
People on this forum give the Kangz a bad rap, but they act the same.
