Sound card

I just got a new pc. A dell sumthin sumthin 526mb 160gb hd and all that. I'm gonna purchase a USB/FireWire sound card this week, but I don't know which to pick. My choises are:

I allready have cubase SX2.0 and I ain't got a clue how i hook upp my mpc through the soundcard and into Cubase. Is it possible to get each track from a MPCsequence to each track on cubase? Ima noob, i know.

One thing I will tell you is to get another hard-drive just for recording audio.You will run into problems after a while from having your O.S. and other program files on the same drive as your audio.If you do get a second drive make sure it's 7200 rpm of faster with at least a 8mb buffer.They can be had for about $80 and they are easy to install.The m-audio stuff is cool just make sure that you get Firewire if you can USB is cool but with USB your usually limited on the number of tracks that you can do.I personally would go the E-mu 1212 route if your just getting started.It comes with a pci based 2in 2 out/audio/midi sound card that sounds good and offers direct monitoring it also comes with a seperate pci card that includes a firewire port as well as Adat lightpipe and Spdif in out.The e-mu setup is only $200 and its everything you could ask for plus it gives you the option to do some crazy upgrading once you figure out what your needs are.As far as being able to take your individual tracks from your MPC and record them into into Cubase thats what Cubase was designed for.It will do that and a whole lot more...Just be sure and use MTC with Cubase as Master and the MPC as slave and everything will work perfectly.

check out the echo indigo with in/outs. you can't go wrong. runs on the laptop power. one of small type II cards. rock solid.

how much are you spending? money no object get a pro-tools system.
