F*ck all the sources and bla bla bla, get a set of monitors, place them with the tweeters facing inwards and run something like a snare with a delay going from left to right, now flip the monitors around and do the same thing, if you cant notice the difference you must have some sort of hearing problem...

Anyway, maybe you should try to put information like that into perspective when you read it. If you're a researcher you should be able to do that. Saying that these effects have an influence on how to place your speakers is like saying the guy two streets away heating his stove is raising the temperature in your appartment. Yes, it's there, but simply not relevant.

I put an online reference up simply to illustrate that the information was out there. I had no idea this was going to turn onto a religious discussion. I did a 1 min search, and posted something. It was meant as a response to the comment made about hearing bass in a car down the street "the bass frequencies have WAY more strength then high". In regards to dampening, I think it describes that well.

If you disagree with something, by all means, say so (Like vsr600. A good example of conversation). But please leave out assessments of other people's character. We're all here to share a common interest. That's all.

I mentioned earlier that the manual stated the same info about placing speakers on their sides.. but I looked and realized it was the mackie HR824 manual, not the Yamaha manual. both both yamaha hs series and mackie hr series speakers were constructed with a vertical orientation. (and I currently have a set of Mackie HR824's, Yamaha HS80's AND the HS50's which I commented on originally)

from the mackie HR824 manual:

"The HR824's were designed to be placed in a vertical position. If you find it necessary to place the speakers in a horizontal position(on their sides), place them so that the woofers are toward the inside; that is, so the woofers are closest to each other. This provides the best low frequency summing and overall imaging.


but pound is right.. try flipping the speakers with the tweets inward and listen to something, then put the in their CORRECT orientation and listen.

B-52 LG 100A Half Stack. New edition for a ridiculously low price. Definitely gets the job done while im getting my tube amp head fixed.
