Choppin it up

Well i know alot of yall chopp samples up but what do yall mean take a lil part of a sample and assign it to a pad and copy to all pads change the pitch or tune on each and play it like a melody or what cause when i get my mpc dat what i want to do until i get my 303 or 505

cause im savin up for a 2000xl and maybe a 505 or 303
i'm only 13 and i been makin beats since i was in da 5th grade now im in 8th damn wait til im 21?

dont get a 505 or 303 if you are getting an mpc...only need one sequencer..get a decent sy nth or more powerful sampler instead of a 505 or 303.....

Never sleep on the 303 and 505 heat... Those two machines are Lethal when combined with the MPC's sequencer... For real it's so easy on the 505 to Chop... Then from there you can Pitch any sound into a Pitch Bank... Which lays the sound out on the pads like one octave of a keyboard...

And FX are off the chain... I mean grab a guitar sound off a record then run it through the Wah effect on the 505... The sample will have new life to it... Or run some drums through the lo-fi processor... Sickening

The sequencer is trash on those things, but all around those things are, as M.O.P. would say, "FIIIIYYYAA"

ah your talking sp-505? still cant see why you need two sampler/sequencer packages...roland sequencers are very good despite what mattmatiks says...rather than get two sampler/sequencers why not get an mpc..a decent effects unit (one better than the sp's built efx- not hard) and a more complex sampler or synth depending on what you do...

with my mixer, efx and mpc i can achieve anything on it that an sp505 can do so cant see the need....now if i didnt own an mpc and could see no chance of getting one then maybe...but not with the mpc aorund...

I still disagree, but it's your opinion dub... I'm just sayin... There are a few people who use the 303 or 505 and an MPC together... I doubt any of them regret owning their 303 or 505s... Talk to Andreas... He'll tell you about how much he loves his set-up... It's not for everyone, but trust me it is a sweet set-up...

Umahh, this has forced me to throw in my 2 cents as usual.
Roland needs to seriously step up their sequencer game.
Programming on a 505 or whatever is retarded compared to an MPC.
But, nice to see people running different engines, rather thatn the same ol ish.

Yea I don't really sequence on the 505... Four Tracks kinda hinders your creativity... That's why I hook it up to the MPC to sequence

the seq is not bad on the 505, I could totally use it alone. but the 60 sequencer kills it, so you could just as easily get the 505 and sequence it externally.

Hard to find an effects unit that does what the 303 does and sounds as good for the price, realtime pitchshift and timestretch anyone? It may not sound clean, but it sounds good!

Yea the sequencer gets the job done, but if you got an MPC why not use it??? Ya feel me

the sp-505 is a fkn pain in the ass to externally trigger..... mfarker...
I started out with the sp-505 and the roland D2 ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY NEWBIE SETUP..... but hey at least i didnt mess with loops an acid....
since I bough my mpc 4k I havent even touched the sp-505....
but now I read this post, I loved that lofi effect.... so ill fire it up 2nite....

I hear ya Pez, but it's worth it for some of those FX... And it's just fun to f*ck around wit every now and then cause it's a really simple sequencer... Just push this button, this button, and this button, And you got a banger pumpin out... IMHO I think to fully produce your tracks on it you need to run it through something else for serious sequencing though...
