Hi all,
I just received an mpc from the U.S. , and when i tried to format a floppy, i get a FF60 error, saying that the floppy doesnt contain any disk and that i need to insert a disk.
Iv got no marion scsi board, so basically im funked'. Can't save anything.
I tried with all kinds of disks 2HD, HD , 2DD, DD , Taped the holes, New disk, old disks..
always the same FF60 (that appears for anything related to floppy i.e. load, save, format etc.
I opened up the board a few times, and i saw that the floppy drive is hand labeled "MPC2000XL", so its probably a mod the seller did. The seller swears that he's formatted a few disks and double checked it before selling it. i didnt see any "jumper" on that drive and i tripled checkd the connexions.
Another symptom is that when i power up the mpc, the read/write led of the disk drive is constantly lit / bright green.
Also when i insert disks, there doesnt seem to be any kind of activity going on in the disk drive, besides a subtle 250 bpm ticking if u put my ear up close.
I tried the search option, and saw FF-60 bump a few times but no real answer to that..
any chance that the floppy died during the shipping?
Really looking forward to hearing from the community.
cheers!
