jamon is starting to sound like bedouin.

that site of his that you linked to, b.read, is nothing but negativity.

He lists one review while I've read at least three positive reviews of the product on MPC forums. How do you get the product and do a video on the unboxing, but you dont actually review the product?

And here is the summary of "inflict's" review: "i like the idea of what the kangz are trying to do, I just dont like the way they are going about it,, sooo much talk and hype, but the bite is not there yet, hopefully the bite will be in this next update"

Hmm, I have heard very similar things about other piece of software, specifically NI Mashince.

Then he criticizes the fact that the "usb dongle" uses Ilok software but doesnt mention the major development houses also use iLok software. This isnt "SoundSurfer" that they're selling here. They are a corporation and need to protect their profits, just like Motu, Digidesign, Korg, M-Audio, etc. All of these companies use ilok tech.

For a list of developers that use iLok, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILok#Parti ... protection

For further criticisms of the ilok, follow this link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILok#Criticisms

As far as the "bullied kid" theory. Aja is a cat who has been present at a few major trade shows, has history with Zoom, and has the clout to start this operation (im guessing on this last part). Not to mention that they have delivered on everything they've said so far. The newsletters were sent out when they said they were going to be sent out. The BTV was released when it was said to be released.

Then we have Jamon, who is a random mpcforums cat who lost whatever business deal he might have had with the beatkangaz. And he released "SoundSurfer" : http://code.jamon.name/p/soundsurfer/

Also, the "beatkangs will sue the shit out you" idea is kinda stretched. Just use their sounds and dont credit them. It's not a big deal. How the **** are they going to find out? Jeez.

In the end, I wish both parties the best of luck and hopefully your day to day thoughts aren't filled with as much bullshit as your posts.

all i know is when reason first came out back in the day I could actually use it, I dont really know about other programs, but the peeps who did reason werent all up there like this is the sh*t, its better then everything else., these guys are saying that the thang vr is the best, when it is far from it, I mean it might be in a few more updates, if they woulda came saying that it is good and needs a few updates to get the bugs worked out then I would understand, but they didnt.......

I do agree, LvngDead- a fair display of reviews would have included some positive ones as well...That said, I'm sure everyone here knows that Jamon is quite biased to the Kangz group as they have had their "differences" I'll call 'em .

I would like to let it be known that I wasn't posting the link for that one bad review. That review, among others can be read on the original thread...there are both good and bad reviews there for everyone to read.

I did however think that their stipulation about "attribution credits" should be known...I had read the entire thread that got locked and this never came up. Just thought potential buyers should know...but like you said, you could just use the samples and no one would ever know. Done and done! :D

I see what ur saying but at the same time the reason devlopers did not ask what features u want the push with btv is that u get to assist in the development.

Joey: I would say the same thing in another way. At first I frowned upon all theses programs, it came from the frustration of seeing how accessible things became overnight. Anybody who had $400 bucks could have the basic set up to make beats. When we spent years saving up mega bones to buy a sampler, then a synth, then a mixing board, then effects. But in the end I would never change that history because those years of learning still get applied in today’s world of computers. We bring all that to the table when we sit in front of our software programs now! In the end it really is about making good music. You would never hear us say “that’s a dope beat…but he made it on fruity loops so it doesn’t count.”

the above describes how peeps percived beat thang also

that is not the point... the point is that they CAN sue you if they find out... how does anyone find out that type of thing? I'm sorry but that is sleazy, they claim to be giving how many gigs of free sounds yet none of them are really free. They are just letting you play with them but you cant use them without advertising for the kangs.

At that point you might as well sample from records, at least you get to pick the perfect sounds.

you are paying for those sounds no matter how you look at it. The sounds are part of the package, or else te beat thang would not be 1000 bucks. They are charging you for sounds but they aren't letting you make music you can sell without strings attached.

^^^lmfao.

Okay, so the whole crediting the beat kangz thing just proves that this a piece of consumer grade, never-putting-out-an-album-because-Im-a-hobbyist type of entry level toy for wanna be producers. Products like these are ruining music as we know it, and dudes still want to defend these dudes??

This is on the site in the FAQ's section. You dont have to credit if you use individual sounds.

Q. Are the sounds and beats royalty free? Do I have to credit Beat Kangz if I use their sounds in my track?
A. By installing and running Beat Thang Virtual, the user agrees to a licensing agreement. BKE requires no licensing fees. According to the terms of the agreement, the user is granted a free license to use the sounds and beats in full or in part in their own compositions (but not for resale as part of any sound library). The user does not have to credit Beat Kangz if they are using individual sounds for their own compositions, but if they use an unedited preset beat, then a credit is required.

Beatzza13: IANAL and am assuming the EULA listed previously (and quoted below), is accurate of the BKE license agreement.

But the problem as I see it is that BKE can say what ever the hell they want in an FAQ, because it doesn't mean shit legally. BKE knows most users will read an FAQ but not a EULA, so they have room to spin it to sound more reasonable in the FAQ. If it turns out their statements in the FAQ didn't accurately represent the EULA later on, they can point a judge to the part where they cover their asses by saying, look we told them boys over at mpc-forums in our FAQ that "By installing and running the BEat Thang Virtual, the user agrees to a licensing agreement." Duh. Of course.

Read the EULA before trying to spin this any other way...

NO WHERE IN THE EULA does it say, "The user does not have to credit Beat Kangz if they are using individual sounds for their own compositions, but if they use an unedited preset beat, then a credit is required."

THE EULA APPARENTLY DOES SAY, "2. Pre-recorded Sounds and Patterns “beats”. The Software contains various pre-recorded sounds (“Sounds”) and patterns (“Beats”). Subject to this EULA, BKE hereby grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license, without rights to sublicense, to incorporate the Sounds or Beats into sound recordings produced by you and to copy, distribute, and publicly perform such sound recordings, provided that you provide an attribution credit to BKE as the source of the Sounds and Beats. You shall not copy, distribute, license, sell or otherwise transfer the Sounds and or Beats in their original and unedited or edited forms."

Based on the EULA, I believe I would be agreeing to give props to the BKE with every performance and recording I make using their software. Which is just un **** believable in this day and age.
