Hi, just discovered my MPC has developed a new unwanted behaviour- very often when I hit a pad, either the bank randomly jumps from A to C etc., or sometimes the playback stops entirely. It seems to depend a bit on how hard I hit the pads, but sometimes also does it when I tap them very gently. This happens throughout the menus/screens.
Basically, it renders the machine useless for most purposes.
Has anyone had similar troubles before, or could that be to do with the ..erm..pads/ pad sensors? Yip, I have a blue one with the old pads(well, am pretty sure it's the old pads, which, so far though, have been working fine..)
It happens the same in JJ OS 1 and 2, so I don't think it has to do with the OS really.
Sorry if the topic should already have appeared elsewhere, had a browse but couldn't find an exact match to this one.
Any help would be highly appreciated, thanks.

Hmm...update: also, it seems that other buttons go wild now as well. When I turn the jog wheel, it adjusts the LCD rather than the selected parameter(not all time, but most of the time...only when I press the shift button with the wheel, I can then adjust the parameters). Playback only stops when hitting the 'MAIN' button(or a random pad sometimes), but not when I hit the stop button. The arrows sometimes don't respond, - pressing cursor 'right' makes '16 Levels' light up, etc. etc.
So, that seems generally quite a bad sign. Still, ideas anyone what could cause this?
As the whole thing behaves awkwardly now, to say the least, I actually don't think any longer that it's to do with the pads..

you could try opening the mpc and check if the connections between the circuit boards are ok, or if you find something else that doesnt belong in there...

i didn't plug a connection properly after messing around in the mpc, and it did some really weird things ....

I posted awhile back about my mpc kinda doing the same thing. Definitely not as bad as your problem, but sometimes when i press one of the 'f' buttons (or other ones towards the top of the machine) it would randomly jump to the 'next seq' menu, or other screens such as the 'other' and 'effects' pages... oh yeah, it would usually happen when I was already in the step edit mode, or in the middle of chopping.

I didn't really get any help here, exept fools talkin bout how I must be hitting the other buttons with my hands or some shit

sorry i counldn't be more help, dude, good luck
