To Computer..

Ok.. Can someone tell me

Once i make a beat on my 2500 and keys.. How do I get everything on to a computer.. What program is best to arrange everything and record into? Basically Im asking where do I go from here.. I dont wanna just hear my beats off my mpc... What all will I need?

U need a Soundcard.

Most ppl use Logic and Reaper i guess, but im a acid pro user.

Then whats Pro Tools for?

you gotta record it. go from the outs of your mpc to the input of your computer to some recording software (audacity (free), garageband (only if you have a mac), protools, many many others)

i record track by track. you can do this with midi, but i dont have that sh!t hooked up so i've been just using track solo on my mpc and recording each track at a time then lining them up. but if you do a good enough job of messing with effects and eq's (which sometimes is the case for me) you can just record the song as one track. this is just how i work. if you get your midi sh!t set up you can do this much more easily.

^^^Luckily for the OP he has a 2500.

U can assign all ur sounds to different outs, e.g. kick to out 1, snare to output 2 etc.
Connect those outs to a recording device with jack cables. In this case ur computer.
U will need an interface for that or a mixer with a usb or firewire connection.

Protools is just ur digital tape recorder for recording, mixing, editing, adding FX, etc.
Google for DAW's (that's what protools is, a DAW) and u'll understand what it does

you will need an 8 input interface (also known as a soundcard) made by apogee:
(http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/ensemble.php) you need that one for it to work

then you will need gold 8 audio cables:

they have to be made by monster or else your signal will have static

and the last thing you need is a new apple computer with pro tools. dont bother trying to use any other kind of computer besides apple, because it is not possible to do professional work on PCs. Apple computers are the only thing real pros use.

you can also use the usb to move files to your computer. you don't need a soundcard for this.
first, resample each track then drag over to your computer. so you can line your tracks up properly, put one bar of snare hits in front of each track in song mode.

as for software, i use logic xpress. any DAW will do.

Ok.. I am planning on getting Pro Tools, Logic Studio, and do i need like a 003 rack? or a project mix?what will i plug my mpc, keyboards, turntable and dj mixer into?

is there a way that when i add a track on the mpc it adds a track on the software? and it records just like that?

and is that the only option? to make everything on the MP, and then push play and record? that sounds really backwards..

well you should have done your research before buying an mpc...

the mpc wasn't made to make beats on a computer.

I know its not made for making beats on a computer. Is there any way you can sync them though?

well with a midi interface and a midi cable, you can use the mpc as a midi controller for your DAW... or you can synth the BPM of both together.

they should explain both those things in the manual... and there should even be a diagram to show how it is supposed to be set up.

But theres like no way/ no program that I can like go to the next track on the mpc and it will do the same in the program? Thanks for your help by the way

no, they are completely seperate machines.

maybe look into the aksys for the mpc4000... I am not entirely sure of what is possible with that... but it is more advanced then connecting the rest of the mpcs to the computer.
