Does it really matter?
Does it validate your purchase?
9th Wonder made crazy beats on Fruity Loops...

Did I ask this to validate my purchase?
I'm a professional sound engineer, and bought an mpc 1000 on a technical basis.
So who are you to judge me for a question I ask?

Perudo, this is off topic but can you recommend any good books on compression?

bob katz "mastering audio the art and the science"
this guy is a brilliant mastering enginneer, and his book explains a lot about eqing, compressing a final mix for mastering, which can be very interesting for producers, because we sample and manipulate stereo files actually.....
this book also covers a lot about mixing...worth checking out

Im not 2 sure about the MPC 1000 in particular but know that Dj Shadow used an MP 60 to make his "endtroducing" album on,

Also Pete Rock uses the 2000XL a lot..

I think you'll find tho (And Ill probably get in trouble for saying this) that most "Big Name" producers would probably use either the 4000 or 5000, just because they can, if that make sense..The 1000 is more of a mid range machine, it doesnt mean that your beats are gunna automatically sound better on the top of the range kit but if moneys no object then thats just what you do... Or MOST people do.. Some people just love the feel, and sound, of the older machines tho & stick with whats comfortable & works for them.. If Beethoven was resurected from the dead I couldnt see him rocking out on a yamaha motif for example :) think he would probably stick with his grand piano, lol.

I do have a Dj Shadow DVD where hes playing live & uses a whole bunch of 1000s on stage tho which is pretty cool come to think of it.

Disco D [r.i.p.] used to praise the mpc1000 on these boards years ago. he'd travel to brazil with it and make beats out there on that.

Largo Pro can be seen with one in his home studio on youtube.

MF Doom [or just DOOM these days] mentioned using the 1000 and the sp-404 in a recent waxpoetics interview.

Autechre mentioned loving the mpc1000 as well as JJOS in a recent interview as well.

and i don't really care for Chromeo but they mentioned using the mpc1000 in their setup in an interview i read in a Guitar Center catalog a few months back...

that guy boon dock might as well be considered at least semi famous. I have seen videos of his a while back. the man has some talent, and way he plays the mpc looks very visually busy. I like a lot of his stuff too.

I'd love to see some of this. Is there any footage of it online?
