I ordered the white pads two days ago but they are apparently on back order, go figure. I have the blue MPC1000 with white sides and a white compact flash frame, so after I get the pads I'll have a complete blue/white 1000. Now I just need the blue screen and all blue led's.

Post up some pics once you get 'em installed!

Just got my clear pads in the mail- sticker on the bag says "MPC STUFF Limited Edition Custom Color Pad Set"

I wonder how many more runs they will make?

On first look, I dig 'em. They have a firm feel, but are velvety like the ones already in the machine. They do have a bit of a "manufactured" odor, but nothing that would make my hands smell after a long session.

I also got my blue screen- I want to wait until I get it all done until I post pics- I've got bigger plans for my 1000 than just new pads and screen. I hope it comes out looking good. :D

That said, I was a bit skeptical of ordering from mpcstuff- not really sure why though. I would definitely recommend ordering from them if you need parts. I wanted to order from needlewerk, but after about 6 attempts to get in touch with Alex and no luck, I had to look elsewhere.

For those interested in a blue screen, check out the new price at mpc stuff. I asked Michael if he would match needlewerk's price of $105. He said "Sure" and changed the link from $140 to $105. It's still at the lower price, for those interested.

I also asked if they were going to get white screens, and he said to give him a bit and he could see if he had one, or could locate one for me. Before he could reply, I made my mind up on the blue so I'm not sure what his answer was going to be. Anyone looking for a white screen may want to email 'em...

After deciding to bite the bullet and get a new screen, I had originally placed TWO separate orders- I asked if I could combine shipping, and that was no problem. Michael gladly refunded the shipping charge from the second order.

Great experience with this company- I'll be doing business with them again in the future for sure

My white pads came in today as well. With the price drop on the blue screen, I guess they're going to get a chunk of next week's paycheck. I wish they sold the individual blue led's so I could get everything at one place, but I guess I'll have to cop those from Needlewerk.

B. Read, did you notice any difference in the gap between the pads and the sensors with your new pads?

To be honest, I haven't even dropped them in yet- that said, they do look identical to the grey pads I bought awhile back from Lunatic Bastard...as far as size goes.

I'm getting new LED's as well, but with no communication from Alex at needlewerk, I'm hesitant to order them there...besides those are way too bright IMO...I'd like to get some closer to the brightness of the stock lights.

I know we can get them on ebay, and I've also read of people buying them at radioshack- I just need a part number

yeah, i gotta agree... every mpc i've seen modded with the blue LEDs.. they look way too bright. like they'd be distracting/annoying or sumthin.

i'd like to see a pic of the mpc1000 with the blue screen installed, but still with the stock green LEDs in the buttons... does it actually look bad that everyone feels the need to change the LEDs?

also... if they already put out the clear pads, it probably won't be long before they make glow-in-the-dark pads. that'd be ill.

Did they always have yellow ones too? I don't think I'd want 'em, but I just noticed they sold these too...

Yo B.. how clear are the pads? clear like they match with the clear buttons when the LEDS are off kinda clear? like youll be able to actually see the pad sensors?

or more white-ish? like an alternative to solid white?

Actually, the clear buttons is a great way to describe how they look- the pads are a bit- brighter? for lack of a better word...in other words, the material of the pads is a little lighter in shade than the clear buttons, but looks good. Still haven't dropped them in yet so I don't know about the sensors- I've been busy at work and have other parts I need to get before I start the mod. I can say that when I'm holding one clear pad over the white PLAY button, I can just barely see the outline of the white button...so they are not exactly translucent. Atleast in this light, that is.

They have a nice feel to them- I'm only talking touch here, not "bangability" :D
They feel smooth and I prefer the feel of these compared to my old grey pads- now, I'm not sure if it's because these are new, and those have been pounded on a million times- OR if the material is different. I really won't know until I drop them in and use them for a few months.

Hope this helps!

Just noticed on mpcstuff.com that they now have colored pads for the 500- for those that don't want to cut into a set of 1000 pads...same price I believe.

hmm...
know how the 500 pads are harder than the ones on most other mpc's?
ive tested a 5000 (i think) in guitar center and the pads felt much nicer than the ones on my 500... they were softer and less stiff..

do the 500 replacement pads feel the same as normal mpc pads ??? anyone get them yet?

yeah just last week at sam ash I was banging on a 500. then a 1000 right after(for the first time on both) and I DEFINITELY noticed that the 500 pads seemed stiff.. but the 1000 pads? where like rocks compared to the 500 pads even.

and the 2500 and 5000 felt identically NICE. not too soft not to hard. just right.

I couldn't believe just how stiff the 1000 pads were. its sucked actually.

I hear you- I'm not looking forward to breaking in a brand new set of pads after I got my old grey ones feeling not so stiff... :(
