New MPC soon?

MPC2500 was announced September 2005.

There's some new samplers coming out soon, mostly in October, SP-404SX, BKE Beat Thang, Korg microSAMPLER, where's Akai?

They're due, maybe that's why they don't update firmware, because they're busy working on the next MPC soon to be released?

What do you think, will they announce a new MPC in 2009?

The MPC2500 was announced Sep. 13th. Guess where Akai will be Sep. 13?

Akai Professional will be on hand to show off the latest in our arsenal.

I don't know, I think they've been focussing on midi controlers lately instead of producing a new mpc.
What I also think is that Akai will wait until they have made more profit out of the mpc5000 before they invest in designing and making a new mpc.

Just my thoughts.

And if they will drop a new mpc soon it won't be anything good. They'd probably rush the process to keep up with their compatitors rather then to come up with something revoltionary they've designed

Personally, I'm more than happy with the 1000 and 2500 right now.

But if AKAI had any bussiness acumen at all, for goodness sake - put some development time and money behind the 500.

That way you will be giving people what they clearly want - and not just building a new shiny box for the sake of it...

Im pretty sure that the 5000 will be their last mpc ever. Just look at the way akai is going, their future is completely leaning to midi controllers.

well maybe they might introduce a mpc with controller functionality, like a 2500 competing wit maschine....
think about it. but i highly doubt it, i aint hangin out for it anyways. i'm good!

well guys, it is easy to predict. we have to wait for alesis to make a new keyboard workstation, wait for a few years (maybe 3?) untill it is discontinued...

then you should see it repackaged with pads not long after.

If anything, I can see them announcing a software version of the MPC to compete with the likes of Battery, Guru & Maschine. Hook it up to the Akai controllers and you've got yourself a tidy setup.

they will probably make a virtual mpk88 sort of thing with a "purchase before the end of the month, and get a free loopmasters sound library" type of thing... I wouldn't be surprised.

I personally think nu-akai are done with the mpc series. I see them packaging "beatmaking" software with their midi controllers in the future. I always wished they would have released some replica machines that emulated the sound of their earlier samplers. Some type of feature that emulated the 12bit sound or something. But once again we're talking about akai so that will never happen. Always look for them to go the opposite direction of where the old mpc heads would like them to go!! lol

they need to start where the mpc4k left off and rehire JJ.

Whatabout the MINIAK Analogue Synth/Vocoder and RPM8 Moniters. They seem to be expanding their horizons.I think Akai will come out with a new MPC, but something along the lines of the D-Beat, like the 4k. I would like to see a standalone MPK unit, like a compettitor to the KORG M3 or Roland Fantom G series, that would be offa the hook.

The MINIAK isn't exactly expansion. Alesis is Akai, and the MINIAK is an Alesis Micron placed into an Akai-branded body.

These machines you mentioned are machines of good quality. I doubt nu-akai would ever build anything close to the quality of these machines. The korg M3 and the new fantom G's are dope keyboards. Nu-akai going that route..... i doubt it. Maybe if they re-hired JJ and let him loose with the 5000 i would maybe become interested......maybe....... nah i doubt it.

I am like 80% within agreement with you and that's why i am going to save up a bit more to buy a spare 2000xl here and a spare mpc 2500 there.....You never know the value of your mpc might skyrocket in the next few years.
