MPC 2000 XL SCSI DRIVE NOT READIND THE 6 ID

I HAVE SOME SOUNDS THAT I HAVE ON MY ZIP DRIVE THAT I WANT TO USE BUT MY MPC IS NOT RECOGNIZING ID 6

I PURCHASED A NEW CABLE THINKING THE PORTS WAS THE PROBLEM BUT ITS STILL BYPASSING ID 6 .CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THIS PROBLEM.

You have to switch the ID to 5.

yea i put the scsi on 5 and still nothing i dont know were to detect the problem if its the mpc , or the zip drive it self .

I really need help with this i have a few prospects for my music andthe sounds are on these disk and its not reading.

Put both switches in the down position (termination on and SCSI ID = 5). Power on the zip first, then your sampler. Go into Disk mode, then change the selected Device ID to 5. It should show Vendor = Iomega and Product = Zip 100. If not, tell us what the MPC is doing at that point.

yea did exactly what you said it says no scsi in drive . It was working fine b4 i dont know whats going on

this sounds like what happend to me.

did you get disk read error" when it first acted up?

i got that on mine and then i kept trying and sometime it would say no scsi device.

turned the mpc off and on. it would detect the drive but coulndt read the disk and then wouldnt detect scsi again.

it was working just fine prior but i couldnt figure out the issue. reformatted, tried another disk, another drive i had...no go.

im not sure if i lost my stuff really but havent used a zip disk since. just started over after getting a CF reader.

i dont think it was the "click of death" but i gave up tryin to find the issue.

so what your saying theres no way of getting it to work?

i dont know...was the drive making any kind of noise?

im sure it can be figured out. but i went thru the same thing looks like...not positive though.

i didnt really look too much into it when it happened with mine.

just got a CF reader cuz i dont wanna go thru that again.

Hey guys, im having a similar problem. I was trying to format an external hard drive and im getting the an device error.

On the MPC I see that it recognizes the hard drive on ID 0, but when I try to format it gives me an error.

Is there a limit on size or a particular type of hard drive that will/will not work with the MPC 2000XL?

My drive is a Glyph seagate, I think 18gig. I do have it terminated with one of those terminators with the light.
