How can I use Synth + MPC4k?

Hi

Had me a 4k for 5 years now, for the most part its been sitting in the corner eating dust.
I'm now looking to start using it seeing as how my PC is getting more buggy than a bug!

How can I use my Moog Little Phatty II or my Alesis Micron with the MPC?
Midi-wise I mean, I can sample it as inputted audio, but how can I call it up as a Midi Synth?

Just scrolled through the manual and it only speaks of midi synchronization rather than midi recording/sequencing.

can't be done. no way to record midi on mpc4000. you are screwed. might as well just get rid of it.

I don't know if its people being difficult on purpose or simply not comprehending what I'm asking.

Dude, how can I trigger my external hardware synths and use their sounds via midi on the mpc4k?

I read the link posted above but its too theoretical.

Let me break it down further to make easier:
1) Do I have to have 2 cables coming and going to each synth? There doesn't seem to be enough midi in-outs for more than 2 synths, do I have to buy an external midi channel hub to enable me to connect more than a few synth to my mpc?

2) Will I be able to use the synth sounds as I would a soft synth on my laptop? That is record the midi signals?

p.s. no one said MIDI "records" sounds. Though you can "record" midi signals.

everybody knows that you can't sequence external synths with an mpc 4000.

you can only use internal sounds.

Isn't there a diagram in the front of the 4k manual that shows the routes for midi cables, a pyhsical diagram?
In fact, all the mpc manuals have those type diagrams.

Yes, you can use sythn sounds, midi the synth to mpc, synth audio out goes to mixer.

If you don't get into a certain level of theory of your machine you've failed. You NEED to know things about your machine
ya know, it's your machine after all. We're not being difficult, it's tough love, now get busy checking out that manual and don't forget to try the stuff you read about, at the same time you read it and alot of it will become clear.

Try reading the thread properly.

Just had another go and no luck. This is not user friendly, both the MPC and the manual.
I'm sure its a simple procedure.

In the manual it says to connect from Midi Out of MPC to Midi in of Sound Module. Done!
It fails to describe how I can trigger the sounds, it only repeats the available options of sending pad to sequencer or sampler, etc. which doesn't really tell me anything.

Anyone?
