I have a 1k and would like to know what cables to use to try and sample from my TV to my 1k, if it's even possible?

The Y-cables I have only give me a low static-type noise when I tried it.

Sorry to sound like a total fool, but we all were rookies at one point and time.

Thanks

simple. i actually did this today, well a movie clip

you got a mixer? cause it makes it even easier

and if you sampled into a computer then moved it to your MPC its even easier.

find your TV OUTput. there should be 3 RCA-type cables, yellow (video) red (audio right) white (audio left)

since you only need the AUDIO, plug your red in whites in the TV, and then to the RECORD in on your MPC.

you can use various cables, 1/4" to RCA, RCA to RCA and use an adaptor, you can use video cables and only use the red and white. etc...

try not to use rec GAIN though.

it's going to be fairly loud, this is why a mixer might help. but oh well.

also if you dont have a audio/video out, you can use your VCR's A/V out instead.

1- if ur tv set is equipped with RCA outputs connect these (L-R) by a RCA-RCA cable into ur mpcs stereo in,

2- if u have VCR hooked up with ur telly check the back of it for any outputs..these will most likely be line level and RCA as well,

3- if u route the in/out tv-signal through a dvd player (stand alone) check the back of it for a yellow or white RCA port named "digital out"...connect this with a mono RCA cable (or just use one half of a stereo RED-RED or BLACK-BLACK). On the "record" page set input to "digital in",

4- u could also mic the tv set . U will need a mic and/or a set with decent speakers tho :) .In this case connect the mic with ur mpcs stereo in (left or right) and turn up the rec gain a bit.

PEACE!!! 8)

If you use a cell phone get a 1/4 male mono to 1/16 male mono metal prong cable and hook the small one into your cell phone, hands free input and the bigger end into the mpc bam. And the same thing if your house phone has headset options as well, or just mic it.
