Phyisically 64 step would be accessible with the 16 pads and the 4 bank selector, but user could "flip" the page to the next 64 step with (for example) the next and prev buttons. When pad + shift would be pressed the desired sample pitch would be selected on the specified step by using jog or a pad directly. PLEEEEASE! :)

When we study a typical step sequencer we see the working of a note insertation. One hit results note on, another hit deletes the note. It would work on the fly (during playing), it's very important.

it already exists! (in os 2 only, tho)

didn't you see my post a little bit above yours?
check the thread a little more carefully next time.

LIVE RECORDING/LOOPING

It would be great if you could assign an audio recording to a pad before you record it. So you could assign AUDIO_001 to pad 1, AUDIO_002 to pad 2 etc, before you record anything. Then you could place a midi note at the start of the bar, for each pad, and then when the recording is finished it goes to the pad and gets triggered so starts playing immediately.

SCALES ADDED TO Q-LINK SLIDERS

It would be wicked if you could add scales to the Q-Link sliders - so they could act like a ribbon controller. Just set a sample to a pad, then set the key and the scale in the Q-SLider options (Maj, Min, Pent, etc) and then hit the pad and move the slider, and it only plays notes within that scale. So you could use them for soloing etc, like on the Korg Electribe.

That would be sweet.

cosign. this is a good idea!

Im pretty sure Im not the only one who's 'chopped down' back from 2XL to OS 2 because of pattern mode.

There is so much more that could be done with this. For example..

1) Expand the number of bars that can be programmed at once
2) Insert samples rather than just chops.

C'mon people.. if you really want REAL 4x4 pattern mode back from os2 to xl, like I do, you gotta say it LOUD!!
.. and clear, using simple terms under the bug report link on jj site, not here.. and don't write the "whole story", it has to be short.
I sent him idea about using bank buttons to change bars, so you could have 4 bars with instant access, but than you could "only" use 16pads from bank A.. but hey..that just me. :D

I got JJOS2XL and miss the following things very hard :(

- Free running LFO
- AKP Import
- Second FX-Send to use FX2 without FX1
- Distortion-FX
- more Modulation-Sources and Destinations like PAN with LFO (that will safe the use of the FlyingPan-FX)

If you need more space for more Features in the OS - go down from 300.000 notes to 200.000 or 100.000, because I don´t think anybody use so much notes in one song ;)

Keep up the great work!!! :)

An external MPC 1000 screen application could be fun, I mean everything what is visible on the MPC's display could be shown on any kind of display using MPC's usb and a PC/Mac displayer application.

I don't know the name of the time-stretch algorithm of new Propellerheads Record software, but it works good. I hate sample chopping, could you develop some similar time-stretching solution?

Why do we need so many pads to select ST or END?
Is it possible to use
PAD 5-6 to direct select << PREVIOUS REGION
PAD 7-8 to direct select NEXT REGION >>

(while in the trim screen in chop mode)

Menco wrote:Chopping samples

It would be really great to chop like Just blaze chops his samples in logic in this vid:
http://vimeo.com/2444672

Just playback the sample and tap the pads to place a start/end point in realtime for rough slicing.

One up on this one. Should be easy to make.

Implementing AUDIO tracks playing from hard disk and not from the RAM would be awesome, cause I cannot use MPC for playbacks (one song is around 30-40 MB, and I have 128 installed on my MPC2500). That feature would be handy for those who using MPC on a live gigs.

Thanks

non destructive sample reverse would be great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i use really long samples in reverse so i waste a lot of memory and loading time.
swap stereo channels (non destructive but destructive would be better than nothing i guess) .
those are two basic features that every samplers should have before stuff like arp, chord mode, pong, etc ....

Automageddon wrote:One thing I would kill for is a classic step sequencer based on the 16 pads.

what you described sounds like what pretty much already exists in pattern mode. as for entering events based on pad hits: go into GRID EDIT, put your cursor somewhere in the sequence and hit the NUMERIC button. now hit some pads & see what happens.

Can't believe i missed this!

It doesn't mention hitting the button in the manual and you'd never know how to access it without hitting every button on the mpc!

But what do the values on the left mean? Three are numbered 1 which will only input the kick. How do i change it? Anyway love this little feature! I was looking round for a step sequencer as well. Please jj, include these things in the manual!

Edit: Nevermind, i didn't know you could change them numbers. Yep, the step sequencer is great. Definitely agree that jj should have this in os2xl and make it useable with midi as well. Anyone with a keyboard can input chords and most synths have an arp so it's pretty much redundant. A step sequencer for drums and synths would make the mpc one badass mofo. 8)
