Mpc sounds distorted at record in

Hi Guys,

my sample sorce sounds distorted when recording in, its like its spazzin out from the bass line, but the levels are not over modding, I cant seem to work this out, its real horrible mayne,

Anybody have any ideas what the problem is,??

my speakers are fine, when playing cd's , so its not a speaker problem

have you tried cleaning all of your connections? Also is the output of the source real high?

yeah those are the basics right there.. make sure your signal going IN is not to hot.
make sure your record gain is low obviously.
and just for kicks, make sure any Direct record features aren't enabled.. like fx, a compressor, filter.. anything.

I was recording in to phono on the mixer, When i switched to line, it was fine

also, why do you rekon it sounded distorted when conected via phono??

because the phono line has a pre amp to boost the signal of a turntable. If you connect anything line level to it, its going to boost way too high.
