Yeah, its a short of some sort. There was a white line from one side of the screen to the other towards the bottom, it looked as if it were frozen and just sort of stuck. The last time I tuned it on the screen stayed lit up for a few seconds even after the unit was powered off. Now it doesnt even light up at all.. Im going to see if I can send it back and swap it out for another.

if you cant swap it, you should still be under warranty if it was "brand new" (better yet, just take it back where you got it from cause that would be less of a headache then dealing with Akai)... this isnt a big problem with 5000's, if so, we would have seen a lot of other complaints, similar to this one, come thru here.
