Yes they announced the MPC2500 September 13th, 2005 at PLASA.

If they're going to unveil a new MPC, it'll either be today, or in 4 months.

Wait and see. The doors open in a couple hours. Akai probably won't update instantly, but if there's a new MPC surely someone with a mobile internet device will leak the news.

Since the 2500 is discontinued, with the price cut last week, a 3500 is what would be announced. Unless Akai cares more about MIDI controllers for PC software, then no MPC.
