You took the words right out of my mouth... I've seen S950s go for 200 bucks on eBay... So that'll hold me over and add some Dirt to my McGirt  ... But still there's no denyin that SP-1200 sound... the S950 is nice, but it's not quite there... Someday

ive seen this same auction for months on and off! ive almost given up on an SP1200 also, but i always keep my eye on ebay for one... there was a good deal on an sp12 a bit ago, the one that went for $450 with the commodore disk drive, someone on here mentioned it... but to be honest, the prices for the SP's are way too inflated for the actual functions of the machines... imma just keep my eyes open for a decent deal on an EMAX... a few bills should get you one in good condition... i saw an EMAX rack used at this shop for $150! i think im sleepin on it to tell you the truth... :?

I'm hopin for the same thing... Emax HD so I can just trigger my samples through a very similar sampling engine... Is that how little they go for... Cause I've never seen one for sale I've just heard about them and did my research... 150 bills is real good... Cause I mean even if it's not all it's cracked up to be you figure you only spent 150... That's not much at all... I'll definitely be on the look for that... If I see one on eBay and I ain't got the cash I'll fill you in dog... Iight man...

I saw a couple recently (not ebay) for like 80, and 100.

It isn't as easy to use as a 950, but the sound is almost there, beware though, it doesn't have the compatibility of the Akai stuff, so you will basically use it as a straight sampler with little or no computer stuff, and one slider and a little screen to navigate, not for the faint of heart or those who like to work quick.

El... Have you used the Emax... If so... Which would you say has the better sound and why? I mean does the 950 have a better sound cause it's dirty while still a very defined sound... Or is the Emax better because it's a more lo-fi sound?

Any thoughts???

the EMAX i saw was actually priced $200 at the store, and it came in some carrying case/bag, the guy working there knew absolutely nothing about it(not surprisingly) but he said that he could work with me on the price after i asked if they could come down a bit... before i left he told me $149.99... i contemplated copping it right there on the spot but wisely waited so i could do a bit more research... when i got home and looked around online i saw a few of them that went for around $100-$150, and these were HD models! also i saw a keyboard version HD model on ebay go for just over $200, i thought about bidding on that too(i woulda probably won since it was $200 when i looked at it, and it ended at $203 or something like that) but was reluctant because the guy had a low number of feedback even though they were all positive... also the guy wanted me to send a money order and wouldnt consider Paypal... i was like i dont need it that bad!!!

thanks for the info Elm, it would probably be more headache than its worth learning that machine... id rather invest the time learning more of my 60... although ill probably keep my eyes open for another keyboard HD version for a good deal since i kinda want some dope keys anyways...
