It's far from lame..it all comes down to the application.

For writing purposes I find it more than adequate...for track laying bass and leads I have Moogs for that.


The Mpc 5000 rocks and that's coming from a die hard Mpc 60 and 3000 user.

OKAY, FIRST QUESTION, have you ever even used an mpc in your normal workflow before? If not, do not aim high cause your gonna suck and be really lost. Ive used a 1000 and 60II, and i would have to say this, bth excellent quality dummy proof machines. The 2500 is a beast also. But I did try the 5000, and it was wayyyyyyy too advanced for a first mpc. I never fiddled around with a 4000, but I hear ypou need to know some computer logistics to even fathom its capabilitues. Im in he process of purchasing a 2kxl, and the 2000 is just a bigger more dependable 500 with better pads and sound. But do not EVER say " I want more than a 3000" cause those words will get you shot! The 3000 is the most reliable, most colorful sounding, easiest most stable and most straight forward machine out there. If you have a couple grand to blow, dude do the right thing and get yoself a 3000.

trust me dudes right go for the 3000

I have the below and rate them in this order:


1. MPC 3000LE (for sound and features)

2. MPC 60 MK1 (Best sound and swing)

3. MPC 5000 (all round features, computer integration and work flow better than 3000)

4. MPC 1000 JJOS (cute has allot of features, but is cramped, great for first time users)


If I was getting a brand new MPC it would be the 5000 without question.

If I wanted a classic MPC it would be a 60 or 3000, the others don't even come close imo.
