I just copped a mo phatt and got a question about connections.

Heres how i got it hooked up...
midi in from the mo phatt to the midi out of the mp
midi out from the midi keyboard to midi in of the mp
midi in from the keyboard to midi out of the mp.

My problem is i cant hear the sounds from the mophatt out of my monitors, but i can hear it through the head phone jack. Like i can record somthing into the mp from the mo phatt and it will record it but i can only hear it through the headphone jack on the mo phatt.

So how do i hear the mophatt through the monitors?

if you don't use a mixer: run the audio out from the mo phatt into the record in of the mpc (or an audio in on your soundcard, turn 'monitor on' and 'thru' on. then you'll hear it.

you could also get a Soundcard with alot of outs. like the M-audio Delta 1010.
If your after a mixer you should get a mackie or something.. but if u have plans on recording your tracks on a DAW then i would get a soundcard... with alot of outs OR i would get a MIxer and a soundcard.

yeah i already got an mbox2 mini for tracking but would it make sense to run everything into the mixer and then to the mbox?

mo phat audio outs to multi channel mixer audio in.
mpc audio out -> multi channel mixer audio in.
kybd audio out -> multi channel mixer in.
mixer audio out -> mbox2 mini audio in.

If you are going to wanna separate tracks in a soft daw, then
get a multichannel audio interface/multichannel soundcard then you........

mpc audio out -> multichannel audio interface/multichannel soundcard audio in.
kybd audio out -> multichannel audio interface/multichannel soundcard in.
mixer audio out -> multichannel audio interface/multichannel soundcard in.
multichannel audio interface/multichannel soundcard input channels will be routeable
to any tracks in your soft daw.

Point being, audio has it's own route separate from midi, nothing to do with each other.

It depends on what u have... U have the Mbox2 mini right.. where u have only 2 ins and 2 outs.. your monitors connected to 2 of the outs and the MPC connected to the ins..
U also have a Mo phatt soundmodule like u said and will be needing two more outs...
So as i said.. either u get a soundcard with more ins and outs or keep the Mbox and get a 4,8 or 16 channels mixer.
I would buy an 8 channel if i were u for future use.

thanks for all help, appreciated.

i went up to guitar center and copped a behringer xenyx1202. workin great so far but i got another question.

im doin a track right now and got the sample layed down with a bass sound from the mophatt. i want to add more instrumentation but when i go to change the sound, the bass notes are applied to the next instrument. you know what im sayin? how do i make it so it will stay bass for that track and go to another track and have another instrument without disrupting the bass. sorry this is probably a real basic question but this is my first module so bare with me. thanks.

I don't have a module, so I can't be sure. But it probably has something to do with you needing to record the bassline, before you can use another program...It's like on the MPC, if you record a nice drumline, you need to add a track to change programs. Well you only have one mophatt, so you're on track one. feel me?

Oh ya, and prepare to get shit for buying a behringer, theyre looked down on here, but **** the haters, fits your price range, you can cop a better sound quality mixer later

yeah i feel you, im still confused tho. i recorded bass on a track so i go to another to track to add another instrument and go to the phatt to change the instrument and the bass notes i recorded go to the next instrument you know? so it seems like right now i can only record one instrument from the phatt per song. which cant be true.

another problem is i shut down my mp and opened up the song again, and just like i thought the bass wasnt there, the midi notes were but no sound, unless i go to the phatt and open up that sound again.

is there something i need to be saving on the mo? the mp? just confused right now.

Is the mophatt multitimbral, I don't know.
If so, then you need to assign unique numbers to patches.
ie, bass - midi channel #1
horns = midi channel #2 etc.
Record bass on a mpc midi type track, same mpc seq, different midi # track that matches the next mophatt midi channel u wanna record.

Once you record a midi channel to a mpc track, DONT change it, that's why you end up with the changed instruments.
Ur not supposed to change it, ur supposed to move to a different track and different midi channel #.
