haha, I thought I'd let you guys wonder for a while...

It's the Lack tv bench - the expedit is 149cm high, the lack is 149cm wide and the panels are the same width as the edges of the expedit. they fit perfectly together.

I put some spongy shiny surfaced wet-suit like material in between each piece of wood to stop them sliding around, it also looks dope with the tiny gap. You could use blue-tac I reckon..

I've been wanting to get that 2x4 expedit for a minute but the lack of depth for battle style turns has kept me away.

I was looking around I think it might be this Vika Amon table top $30.

Yeah that's the one, did a bit of searching after posting yesterday. You can buy the top by itself as well :D
I'm off to Ikea...

p.s. The Lack (the way I saw it added to the expedit) raises the hight a bit too much IMHO

You might want to hold off on that table top. I didn't notice that it was 29 1/2" wide. That's damn near the width of a kitchen table! haha The Lack Sweaty Hectic used is 21 5/8" wide which is a little more sensible. I wish I had access to a table saw cause I'd just modify that table top. Maybe there's a smaller table top available? Unfortunately, Ikea.com doesn't make it easy to search for this.

crossings wrote:just get a battle style dj coffin and set it up on top of the expedit. it'll serve it's purpose when you wanna take your tables out as well.

The purpose is to have a nice clean grown folk looking setup. haha

globalhoops1 wrote:I had read that the expedit units werent big enough for a battle style set up, this is not the case.

I measured my Technics and the feet are 17.5" apart. The Expedit is 15 3/8" so you have very little wiggle room. How wide is the TTX? Not to mention with a wider top you can setup monitor stands and other goodies.

Sweaty Hectic, what's the height (floor to table top) of the table with the Lack doubled up?

Really no need to modify anything for this, just damp between the wood. If you're thinking modify as in, have flush equipment or something - I'm sure it's possible but with that much trouble I'd say you'd be better off building a box that sits on top of the expedit.

I'm not sure dude, actually. At a completely blazed estimate based off nothing I'd say around 90cm. I'm not a tall guy though, you can always just use one of the boards from the Lack instead of two. I guess someone with a measuring tape and an expedit could measure the width of the expedits frame, measure it's height on it's side, then add 2x the width of the frame to the height of the expedit, plus a few CM for damping.... because the frame is the same width as the lack's board..

Beats from the floor :) What about a carpet? Isn't it too cold down there?

I was referring to the Vika Amon table top I found which is 8" wider than the Lack you used.

Btw, did you reinforce the back of the Expedit with a panel backing or do you think it's strong enough to hold all the records plus gear without it?

You have your equipment in your dorm? Are you in a single or double?

You trust your roommate? How about his buddies?

Make sure you talk to him about leaving the doors unlocked- even for one second...

Not trying to jinx you or anything, but I would hate to see you post up on how such and such got stolen.. :?

nah I didn't reinforce the back, it doesn't need it.. even with more records I think it would be fine.
