midi buffer full?

anyone ever get this message?

its a weird problem ive never had before. i recorded a couple sequences, go to song mode and lay the sequences down but when i convert it to sequence i listened to it and it was missing a couple instruments i had recorded and flashed a message saying midi buffer full about 21 bars in. nothing was muted so i dont know what the problem could be.

any ideas?

Is there a lot of Q-link activity recorded in the sequences you have made?

I know that other sequencers see recorded Q-link messages as sysex - and if anything causes midi buffers to fill up it is sysex data)
If the MPC has to convert Q-links to standard MIDI format internally, then you might get into trouble converting to a sequence. - (I am just guessing here though.....)

I dont know how the MPC goes about converting a song to a sequence, but it does seem odd that you could get such a message using a process internal to the MPC. Could this be another bug?

(I have only had the MIDI buffer full message myself when I have accidentally put the machine into a MIDI feedback loop - even then, it takes a good few cycles and very large amounts of data before it loses its grip and gives an error).

no q link at all. i actually only had three tracks of midi recorded. seems weird that it wouldnt be able to handle such a small amount like that. but that was the only time ive ever seen that message and havent gotten it again since.

Also could be a midi loop
(midi out data coming back to midi in of the mpc)
