MPC500 is a toy?

how about like 10 people enter, 7 of them are non-500, 3 of them are 500. they all make beats and put it up and everyone tries to guess (i guess a poll wouldnt work? maybe?) which ones are made with the 500. someones gonna get offended when everyone says their beat was made with a 500 when it really wasnt!

When I tried my new MPC-2500 you know what my first thoughts were?

"The 500 is much better".

First of all, the screen. The 500 backlight can be turned off, unlike the huge bright green 2500 flashlight shining into my retinas, making it hard to look away and focus on the music.

Then there's all the navigation required to move around the interface. The 500 is usually just, click the track/sequence button, turn data wheel, press down, turn data wheel. 2500 is way more.

It's a better physical form. Not only can the 500 be picked up and moved easily, I can do things like hit the REC + PLAY START buttons easy with 1 hand. 2500 requires pinky, or fingers stretched.

The sliders. The 2500 has sliders that can't be moved fast. They have friction, so make nice fluid glides, but with the 500 I can slam it from top to bottom instantly. Not possible on 2500.

It's too bad the 500 firmware isn't better. With JJ OS, extra ins/outs, footswitches, the 2500 has an advantage for large projects. But I'd prefer a cross between the 500/2500.
