isnt the 2000 xl also by roger lin?
Iv'e been told that the mpc 3000 has a fatter sound compared to the xl

If some basic delays were added on as stock standard effects in the 2k like they are in the 3000, I think the 2k would of been more of a competitor.

I think the MPC-4000 is the only reputable alternative for the 3000. Especially if you dig using the 3000.

I have an XL and 3000. Not going to go into which one is better. True the 3000 has fatter sound. My first MPC was the XL. It made learning the 3000 easier. The XL has feature the 3000 doesn't and vice versa. I sometimes use the XL for long phrase samples and the 3000 for drums. The XL sound is sharper or you could say crispy. Both are excellent machines. We have all read the specs and forum threads people tend to lean toward the 3000. The XLs are readily available on ebay these days. Try out the XL before you buy to see if it's right for you.
