How to read MPC3000 zip disks on an XP system..

Is this possible? I think I've read that it isn't (only on systems running Win 2k or earlier) but I just wanted to check with you guys.

I don't have any issues with my 3000 and Windows XP. Make sure you format the Zip in the MPC.

Hmmm... you are missing a point here.

Your MPC3000 would have to be running Vailixi 3.50 as its operating system to be capable of creating a disk where any of the partitions would mount on a Windows XP system.

The MPC60/MPC3000 partition scheme created by a machine running a operating system less than Vailixi 3.50 will not be mountable on a Windows XP system ... not even the first partition.

Most folk know this and these points have been discussed over, many times in this and other forums.

I did come across the mpc3000.com page, but, I figured that, since the disk can't be read by XP anyway, then executing that registry change wouldn't make a difference, anyway.

Only if you're not running XP. Now, my final question, though how stupid it may be (though, I've always been taught that the only stupid question is the one not asked), is, whether it's the same thing with Windows Vista.

Thanks for the clarification. Now, did you do any sort of special formatting of the disk in order to allow Translator to access it.

Like, I know that MPC Editor supposedly has a option for formatting disks to the MPC 3000 format while still allowing access to the disk's content in WinXP.

If you are asking me this, you haven't even tried downloading Translator Free.

All the documentation for Translator is included in the download.

Short Answer: No, nothing special. Translator Read/Writes Proprietary formats/Disks.

E.G., I use CST to Read/Write Ensoniq Intsruments, to pre-formatted ASR-10 CF Cards.

I will repeat what I said earlier:

I HAVE NEVER SUCCESSFULLY WRITTEN MPC3000 .pgm's USING TRANSLATOR.

Yes, I know that they advertise this under their Compatibility chart.

I've been using translator for the last 3 years in combo with my mpc3000
in the beginning I had a problem setting up
but after that no problems

No problems converting MPC3000 .pgms + .snd's?

I.E. .pgm's + .snd's load up with correct pad assignments, and correct paramater data?
