cuz they said they were having trouble with the
updater on windows.

I removed the old version and installed the new one, the mac one is working but I don't have a mac lol.

I talked to a few other windows folks that said their update worked fine, but I do know inflict3 def had some issues with
updating his joint...

the software has transport buttons, they just updated the midi so that you can use the transport
buttons on your midi controller to send mmc to the software now

there are still some things I want to see updated in the software, I think the next one is supposed to allow it to work as a plugin, then I can use it in ableton if I want

I don't think folks are hatin I think everyone should voice their own opinion and if a company is going to put themselves out there like that, then they gotta be ready for the backlash, plain and simple

LIAR

lol.I have no reason to lie bro, I talk to inflict every day, I knew all about his issues, I also talk to other peeps and
told them about his issues and encouraged them to ask for the full install and not the updater

talk what you know bro...

all i know is I was told they had issues getting the windows updater to work without requiring a reinstall, I just asked for the full update and removed the old version...

I installed it an it works...for some it didn't, for some it did

as far as the updater, that's not my area man, I don't know what the issue was with it, I just said give me the full version so I don't have to worry about it, let them work out the issues but I wanted the update now.

no different than any other folks man, I have ni maschine too, peeps was complaining about that update as well, some had it work, others had their entire software crippled...

that wont stop me from using maschine though, cuz it worked on my computer...

that's all I'm saying man, it is what it is, sometimes stuff just don't work, i'm not a programmer so I don't know what the deal is and can't really say why the updater is such an issue

but again, you called me a liar, not cool...considering I have no reason to lie bro

Sounds like a bullsh!t company to me.
If these dudes cant put together a update that installs then what makes you think they gonna turn that sh1tty software into something?

Get real here.

and you gotta love how the kangz are still trying to pass themselves off as customers here... getting all defensive about the situation. as if any customer would still be defending the product after that sh!t happened.

and why should a customer have to contact them just to get a working version... shouldn't the burger kangz be rushing the full installer to all 3 of their customers and apologizing for the mess-up?
By Jamon Mon Sep 21, 2009 5:32 pm
Ya, I feel bad for the Kangz. It's not really their fault. They hired some developers to build their machine. If they can't even figure out how to use Windows installers, something no other programmers ever seem to have problems with, what's that say for the quality of the software? When the Beat Thang installs it opens up a CMD window where it tries to manually execute commands to copy files. It doesn't look very professional.

Really the main flaw here is they set their goals too high. At NAMM they came out calling out all the major companies with mature products, warning there was a revolution coming. But they didn't even have a working prototype. They were holding a box with no power. It took time before they finally uploaded a video with some power going through it to prove it was real. Everyone thought it was a non-working vaporware joke.

If they lowered the price drastically and focused on what they know, making the Beat Thang like a simple Streetbox2, then they'd be succeeding right now. Instead they're trying to impress technically knowledgeable MPC users. They can't ever win that game. The Beat Thang hardware can never be as solid/tight as the MPC. But if it were cheap, and simple, they could make a really fun toy.

It's like a nerd trying to date the prom queen, and going home alone. If he just owned up to his true self he could be with a really hot nerd-girl. Instead he tries real hard to impress, and ends up with nothing. It's sad to watch. I wish they'd do a sudden 180 and strip down their product. Shut down the site, disappear for a while, then come back with a cheap ROMpler aimed at people wanting to have fun making beats without getting deep into it.

If they did that, they wouldn't kill Akai, but plenty of MPC owners would buy a Beat Thang just to add to their arsenal of sounds. They'd make money, and be able to have fun selling it. They could still give them to schools and have product parties. It'd still sound the same. It just wouldn't ever pretend to be something it isn't. That's what poserhood is all about. The Kangz have poser-issues, wanting to be celebrities, and it's reflecting on the product.

There's no shame in not being King. A jester can call himself the King, Kang, or Kong, even write it on his floppy hat, but it won't ever change who he is. Not everyone has it in them to be King. It doesn't make you less of a person. Everyone can't be King or there's nothing to be King of. The Kangz got mocked on this forum, mostly because of the over-the-top attitude coming from a jester. Everyone treats it like a joke, because it looks like one.

If they stopped pretending to be Kings, and came back to reality, they could be praised for doing what they do well. Instead they look like a joke, so are treated like a joke.
