MPC Help

I thought I knew how to use the MPC, but after trying to record some of my songs out to separate files, I found out that I am not using correctly.

I read the manual. I use logic, ableton, etc...

Can someone please explain to me how the sequences, patterns, songs, etc..are supposed to be used? Such as do the drums go on a sequence, basslines, etc.....??

I was recording everything on a sequence, like a bass line, samples, drums, etc....and am now realizing why my MPC would run out of space...

Are you supposed to record a drum patten on one sequence, bassline on another, etcc...then combine them somewhere? or snares on one sequence, hi hats on another?? or am I way off.

Thanks, I just opened the machine years ago and was able to start making music, so I guess I taught myself wrong.

If I wasn't clear, I am not asking how to make beats. I am just asking how to record or layout the "instruments"

I am used to having instruments, those instruments are then recorded onto tracks, then those tracks are sequenced in a song. Can someone translate this into MPC for me....

The MPC has tracks just like PC software. Press the track button, and turn the wheel. Sequences are sections of a song. So maybe you have an intro sequence, with track 1 drums, track 2 bass, track 3 piano. Then sequence 2 is the verse, same tracks. Sequence 3 is the hook. Then go to song mode and tell it to play the intro, verse, hook, verse, hook twice. There you go, a basic song. Then you can record the song to a .wav internally, save to your card, and copy to PC.
