count in, play the audio (keyboard audio line out to mpc line in, or turntables audio line out to mpc line in), mpc records and loops back around after your set amount of bars, just like the mpc plays back samples when you trigger them in a recording. afterwards, the 'takes' are stored in memory and you can trim them, or even assign them programs and run filters, effects, tuning and lfos or anything else you can do with a recorded sample... because it is a recorded sample. i recorded in, chopped and retriggered all my **** to get the timing just right. definitely wont be cutting into the daw any more.
COSIGN.. thats pretty much exactly how I get down. Except I run EVERYTHING i have into my mackie mixer, and send a buss out to the 2500.. So ANY KB or Sound module Im playing from any midi device im playing from, can get bussed to either the MPC or my daw.. SO I will usually use the MPCS audio tracks to "capture an idea". Sometimes the takes are good enough to keep, other times I use em as a reference and re-record later into the DAW. And I usually rename the audio takes from "take 01" or whatever to the Name and present number of the sound I used so I can remember it later.. like "JV8000 P47" for example. Although in the end, EVERYTHING goes tracked to DAW to mix.
I would obviously recommend JJ like most of us do, but on a side note, the 2500 will do this out of the box as well with direct record.

If you want to loop 2 bars and record continuously, Set the sequence length to 3 bars. Switch loop from "End" to "2". For some reason, this will trick the audio track into recording until you stop the mpc and the 2 bar sequence will loop continuously.
as far as this quote above.. I don't believe its "tricking" the mpc, what happens is, when you have your bars set to 4 for example, and record live audio, your playing till the end of the 4th bar and passed it, so by the time you hit stop, the mpc thinks you wanted to record more than the set bars and asks if you wanna change to the next bar " 4 to 5" yes or no..
what u did, (which is a slick idea i might add) is simply set the seq to have an extra bar. so when you record your 2 bar audio track in this case, when you record, your just pressing stop before the sequences bars run out. so since the audio take is less that the 3 bars you set the seq to, it doesn't have to ask if you wanna increase the bars.
good idea... but not tricking the mpc.
If ever someone (stan steez) decides to do an updated manual for the 1000 AND.. AND ... AND the 2500 for JJos.. this feature should definitely be included as basic procedure for recording audio into the mpc with less hassle. (also I would be glad to participate in helping with the manual for the 2500)
thanks for the tip beach!
