You are still not listening......"YOU GOT GOT!". Please close this thread......Please? Take this sh*t to the WEAK QUEENZ site. Stop trolling, nobody else is going for your scam. I told y'all when they first started it looked like a recycled ASR-X, and that's what it is, if they ever make it. You can get a used 1000 and throw the jjos in and be a 1000 times better of than with this useless piece of trash. They keep popping up on this site cause they have no traffic on theirs. GTFOH! Not now, but, right now. To quote myself "I didn't know Fisher Price made MPC's". And to anybody who don't like it I say: "You die first, then I'm gonna kill you." one.

exactly... like we're supposed to believe that we got dudes signing up here to talk about the beat thang on their first post, rather than just signing up on the beat kangz forum.

Since this is a thread about the beat thang being delayed, Nadir will you give us a more concrete date than just "Winter"?

Ugly ass face-plate. LOL

For the record, I've used and MC 808, MC 909, Triton Le, Fantom X6, Emu SP-7, MPC 1000 & MPC 2000XL, so I more than enough experience using beat machines.

I would use the XR-20 before I use that POS. Especially how you guys came here calling it an MPC killer and saying wake up Akai. What did you think was going to happen with a forum full of MPC enthusiasts? That we were going to jump ship after it has been successful for everyone here?

GTFOHWTBS

I would gladly take my Styleflip skin over custom grillz, LOL!

I am reading this ongoing discussion and I was not aware of many of the issues with marketing, the initial approach to potential users (on this forum) and some of the general beefs against the company. With that said, I will still throw my support at what is the most ambitious piece of gear to come along in a minute. As Nadir said, the company is working on tightening up some loose ends and projecting a better image for the company. Cut these dudes some slack for even attempting to bring something of this caliber to the market. Yes there will always be MPC die hards, core users and stans. MPC, like any other hardware device or software has seen a huge amount of growth over the years and is synonymous with professional drum/sample programming and sequencing. That doesn't mean that there is not room for another product to blossom. Yes I would like to see a trial version of the software available because most software manufacturers provide one to help with the marketing and exposure of the product. It also allows for input and for changes to be made upon release.

I am proud of The Beat Kangz and wish them a great deal of success. Many of the specs are nowhere to be found on other units. The price point is fair for its initial run. iPods and other consumer electronics like blueray drives, PS3 and XBOX 360 have all been introduced at price points that seemed to be higher than it should be only to see these prices drop once the second generation comes out, the technology gets cheaper or there is an effort to ramp up sales. Electronic instruments from major manufacturers have not all been successes. Some of the most well intentioned gear shows up for cheap after it flops or is discontinued. The Beat Thang does not appear to be a toy. It promises to streamline the beatmaking process especially for the uninitiated. I would be very interested in one as an alternative to the work I do with Logic, Reason, Pro Tools and my Trigger Finger. As I said in my interview with the Kangz, the most exciting part will be seeing how users will exploit functionality and turn it upside down creating techniques/sounds that were never intended for the device. This is how hip hop works especially. Before everyone had all this technology accessible to them, they had to use what they had no matter how powerful to express their creativity. As a result you have turntables being used as instruments, sampling techniques devised to work within limited sampling times/frequencies (early samplers like the SP-12 and 1200) and even sampling material other than drum sounds to create a sound scape.

I also noticed that Explicit had no response when told of Timbo's partnership that put his name and sounds on the Niko. That is surely not that same thing as creating a beat machine from the ground up. All I see from Explicit in his last few comments is a dismissive tone and being extra with his bashing of the company and their product. Constructive criticism goes a long way. These brothers should be commended for how far they have come with the Beat Thang and the work being put into it continuously..

The specs are nowhere to be found because the Beat Thang hardware is a Personal Computer. The MPC, upcoming microSAMPLER, etc. don't have as high of specs as the Beat Thang because they are completely different architectures. It's like the difference between a cell phone and a PC.

On my PC I can do fullscreen video conferencing. Oh, you can't do that with your cell phone? Well, on my PC I can do high-quality calls using professional mics and speakers. Oh, your cell phone just has a tinny little earpiece?

They're completely different. A cell phone is a tiny device with dedicated electronics specifically for making mobile phone calls, using lower level programming, and slower processors. A PC, runs a generic operating system, and can be programmed with high-level instructions to do almost anything.

Does that make your cell phone less than my PC? No, even with lower specs the cell phone can outperform the PC for certain tasks. Same with the MPC. In theory, it is physically impossible today for the PC to outperform dedicated DSP hardware, because PC OS' have minimum latency.

With dedicated electronics you can design something with near-zero latency. That is why it is in a totally other league. The Beat Thang is a custom designed PC using high-level programming and a general OS. It is not in the same category technically as the MPC or microSAMPLER.

Maybe I'm the only one who cares about that anymore. But if you're going to use a PC, you might as well use the fastest you can afford. For $1,000, price of the Beat Thang hardware, you can buy a quad-core processor. That will blow away the tiny little CPU in the Beat Thang.

The Beat Thang can be great for some people. But it can never be a solid fast piece of professional gear in the same way as older dedicated hardware samplers/sequencers. The MIDI in the Beat Thang for example, will have milliseconds of latency added to the already slow MIDI protocol.

In theory, the MPC should be faster, and have more solid timing. Maybe you don't care about that, but technical professional audio engineers do. That is why the Beat Thang can't be what they claim. Not because people don't like the style, but because it's physically impossible.

If you are referring to me, I did sign up on the Beat Kangz forum also. I am an independent/neutral party that was introduced to the development of the machine from one of the guests on my podcast/mixshow. The beat boxer Chesney Snow contributed the human beat box sounds to the device and he told me of the machine last Summer. I followed up this year and requested an interview through their publicist. I am sincere in my interest and wanted to know what they people were saying online, in forums such as these. I joined to share the video of the interview to allow people to hear about the Beat Thang from the creators own mouths, without the hype.

Welcome to reality.
The marketing is a worthless gimmick targeted at little kids and snappity pop soulja boy wannabes. Gargabe music I might add. This whole company is a scam and straight up joke to the majority of this forum.

Most ambitious piece of gear?
You kidding me right. These dudes havent even manufactured the product. They went around for months talking sh1t and they didnt even have a working model? They just had a hollow plastic prototype of the build. Now these dudes all share one Beat Thang or maybe a few... Not even a hundred of these hardware BT's exist. They wont even be sold in retail locations... You know why? Well because these fools dont stand a chance. They cant even get a update right on the virtual.

You seriously gonna compare a company with no name and history to Apple, Sony & Microsoft? bahahaha
Theres no comparison. STFU!!! Seriously your full of bullsh!t.

What do you expect? A post of me saying oh yeah... My bad. Atleast my mistake was minor unlike the update on the Burger Kang Virtual. Not to mention the install of the software is so low budget.

Why would we commend these fools? They havent done anything but make 1 Beat Thang that they all share and came out with a sh1tty low budget software thats missing basic features, cant update for some people and has bugs all over.

Like its been said before.
Eiter your another one of these fools or its the same fool under a different name.
Move on and get on your own sorry forum that nobody visits.

EDAYE the story is that back during Winter NAMM when they announced it there was a thread here, which grew, and grew, to like hundreds of pages. In that thread Aja was replying, and trying to handle all the public dissing. He was challenging the Akai CEO to a battle, using profanity and street lingo, etc. A lot of their YouTube videos were in response to things written on this forum. Finally at the end he even recorded a track he posted to his MySpace page that was supposedly meant as a battle against one of the posters here.

That thread got locked, maybe even deleted, and this one is like the 6th since then maybe. I pre-ordered the Beat Thang, and thought it was interesting that they suddenly stopped accepting pre-orders, and changed the release date from Oct 1st to this Winter. But despite that other thread being gone, the story lives on, and the drama tookover this thread. Aja already said he was through with this forum, so Nadir appears instead to present a different image, more conservative than Aja's.

In that other thread, your video was posted. I watched it then. My opinion was that it was mostly fluff. Aja can talk a good one, doesn't make it true. Ya, it's got a lot of beatbox sounds... ya, they had a party at the NAMM... ya, they made some sounds for the Zoom Streetbox... ya, they're planning on giving stuff to schools... ya, it has more RAM than the MPC (irrelevant since it uses the RAM for a different purpose than MPC)... etc. What does any of that have to do with anything real?

Aja said in your video the LCD screen has a good "aspect ratio" so you can see it in all sorts of angles and lights. This is the kind of fake talk I hear and know is bogus because I understand the tech, and know what an aspect ratio is (it has nothing to do with viewing angles). Ya they said they had it designed to do all the things they wished they could in other machine but couldn't. That sounds great, until you actually inspect the software and realize... it can't do anything the other machines can't. Nothing. Not yet, maybe someday it will, but not now.

Combine that with all the rest, like how they supposedly used fake accounts to spread positive reviews of their stuff, and people grew to dislike this thang. Did you know the Beat Thang is built using open source software, that they initially did not give credit to? Most of the Beat Thang was already done for them by open source developers, the company they hired took that and built the Beat Thang using it. Then they didn't follow the license, giving credit and paying to use the code. The Kangz handled it positively after getting busted, but their devs didn't do it right from the start.

All this stuff, plus the "Thangz" "Kangz" "Grillz", and how they talk like they didn't finish the 2nd grade starts to add up into negative publicity. I think it's isolated to some online forums though. I doubt anyone buying the Beat Thang from their local music store will even know what LADSPA is, let alone understand why the Kangz' developers didn't follow the GPL.

Im beginning to hate posting in this thread. **** guys, give it up! Nadir, your cool, I like you, you come off real and a bit remourseful of how things were handled in the past. But lets face it, the THANG and the MPC are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ENTETIES! They cannot be compared, and shouldnt either. As for me, I have had a MPC 1000, 2500, and now im going to the 2000xl. Other samplers and drum machines include: Boss Dr.880, Yamaha DJX II, Boss Dr.770, and a Zoom Streetboxx SB246. Ive also worked with FL studio 8 and Reason 4.I know an MPC cant replace all those things, and neither could a Beat Thang. Hell, I have too much, which is why im downsizing. It all depends on what you need when you need it and that should be a determining factor in your purchase, not how many features it has, because if you dont need em, than your burning $$$. yeah, it does seem a bit overpriced, but I would drop a hundred dollars for a SD mod for an MPC, and i would drop another 100 for instantanious loading. There, you got 200 dollars, now I can do without all the fancy color screens and all, but that probably adds another 150 to the price. Also, a rechargable lithium cell, theres another 200. See, that shit adds up, and if it is an independent company, ide like everyone to look up the ZENDRUM, a minimal midi percussion controller, built in the usa, and retails new about 800 bucks. But its built like a tank.

Look I may joke about the Kangz, but I support what they're trying to do, even if they're not doing it very well.

But seriously, the grillz better be made outta stainless.

No need to take it personally EDAYE. That's often how people write on forums. Plus for some reason a lot of people on this forum are very sensitive about the Kangz drama. It gets them riled up easily.

I think it's funny. Lots of posters in the Beat Thang threads, including the Kangz, act completely ridiculous. It's great drama, like a soap opera. If you go with it you can have some fun.
