Who do we email about new features?

I say that we, the MPC1000 community, hammer that hell out of Akai with emails all asking for the same features to be implemented in a new OS update. Some of these would include:
-Zone
-Timestretch
-Event Time Edit

yuo shoudlnt spam or hammer the hell out ofhtem unless you want akai pissed off at 1k users which would be sweet were learing to live with it but send a polite letter please, and go to akai.com and go to likr support or whatever and find the address.

I really did not mean to imply anything negative by the statement. I am simply stating "power in numbers". If we all politely ask for the same featurs, and let them know that it is ridiculous that the features are omitted, we may get somewhere. For example, here is the email I just wrote Akai:

I recently purchased an MPC1000 and I would like to say that I absolutly love the machine, but I am also truly amazed that there are two features that are not included:

1) Mapping one sample to a range of MIDI keys (aka Zone). This is absolutely the most BASIC sampler feature, and it is, in my opinion, absurd that it cannot be found on the MPC1000. For example, your very dated machine, the S950 has it, but the 1000 does not!
2) Editing the time an event occurs in the step edit. This is also a very basic feature and would be easy to implement, but is quite annoyting to not have. I realize there is cut and paste, but using this to edit the time of an event is really just a cumbersome workaround for a feature that should be present.

I truly hope that these features can be addressed in future operating system versions. I really believe that I am not asking for too much here, and I know many other MPC1000 users who consistently praise the machine, but are frustrated by not having the features that I have mentioned. Thank you for your time.

Akai pretty much addressed this in an e-mail - that the MPC1000 is just their entry level machine and probably won't give us any new features, except to fix the bugs in future OS's. They will tell you that if you want more features to upgrade to a better MPC. This doesn't mean that you can't try, but my guess is that nothing will happen.

alright thats good. yeah i really wish those features were there i even told them that they could have a 100 dollar update and mad people would buy it and they coudl give it free to people who buy them at stores aka no ebay(aka non akai profit). but i also todl them nto to bullshti me either say they yeah theyll considered or no they wont not well forward it aka never seen again. and they never got back at me with the usual well forward it. but yeah i think the zoning problems will be solved for me as i might buy a 505 and externally sample and zone them but sequence them with the mpc. anyways emails neve rhurt and could help peace.

but anything that akai can say you should do with a computer (aka: timestretch, zoning) they are probalbly never gonna implement.

but editiing event times in step edit is something that needs to be dealt in an os update (computers cant help us here). especially since its such a simple task to be added to an os update. thank you for emailing them. the only hope we have of them implemementing that is with mad amounts of people emailing them.

I don't even see why they try and separate their products like that. I personally feel that the 1000 and 2000 are both completely different products, and it would not hurt to give us a few features that the 2000 has. Anyway, as for the zoning, I still feel that is a joke saying that you should upgrade to a advanced MPC, because as I said before, zoning is a very basic feature! There is really no excuse at all for them not putting in event time edit though.

I e-mailed them about zone and no reply. Thats crazy that you can't chop right in the 1000. Some $300 samplers have this feature. All those cats that say you can use recycle must tweak the sounds much. You can subtract in trim but if you cut off too much, back to the computer you go.

I feel very confident that this will be tidied up in a future OS. In coding terms, it will be extremely easy to implement and will no longer necessitate the COPY / PASTE / DEL technique. It will not be a radical new feature, merely a simpler way of editing pre-existing data. Work required by Akai code monkeys will be minimal and additional good publicity from us all will be massive.
