Learning how to build instrument programs on JJ OS2XL. Only had it for a few days so still newbie.
This is a single sample, single layer, recorded acoustically without effects using a microphone.
Then I trimmed it, started a new instrument program, and selected the sample for all notes.
Used the parameters to try and give it life, like a full instrument instead of typical pitchy sound.
Tapped out some notes using the pads into a short sequence, no FX, no EQ, no pitch bends.
This is the dry instrument program as the MPC plays it, no tricks, single short sample.

With multiple layered samples and FX I could get a fuller sound, but it used almost all 32 voices.
This doesn't use many voices, it says 3 for a single note, and practically no RAM.
There was no automation, just single notes, but adding Q-link filter changes could add expression.

Sounds like it could definitely be used in a big way....I'd like to see a track done with this. Cool stuff. :D

It's probably standard stuff for others. But this was impossible with the MPC-500. JJ OS instrument programs are basic, but allow some sound synthesis. It makes me wonder what sounds are possible using the least amount of system resources possible. If some FX are used the MPC instruments should be able to sound as good as the Fantom / Triton.

I have a lot to learn, and a lot of instruments to create before finishing anything. But you're free to use it if you want.

Yeah,...I would mine messing around with it. If you want to make it available for download let me know. :D

Not sure what to make of that somehow... :?

No need to make anything. Just exploring what kind of sounds the MPC can produce on its own without external synthesizer.

Lol... this shiit is out there! But I love to hear experimentation, and that instrument is funky no doubt.

Put the program and sample up for download, I'll see what I can do with it.

It was just a bit random, that's all.

Have you got any links to finished tracks?

Sounds pretty neat with the drums,.....although I feel like you could have put a little more into the drums.....nevertheless it's still fresh sounding. :D

my girlfriend said, "he's smoking different pot to us". nice stuff.

i really like using the mpc for synthesis. so easy to really beef up things and make unique sounds. sort of interested in getting an AKAI S series sampler for even more sample synthesise possibilities.

instead of layering samples in program mode, i often use simult to trigger samples on different pads, then use the sliders to change pan or filters in real time as i resample.

Nothing but MPC: kick, snare, snap, and that instrument.

The melody part of this sounded awesome. Will play around with it tomorrow, thanks dude!
