very cheap parts for mpc1000/2500

ya know come to think of it.. if someone is brave enough to remove like 4-6 screws and slide out their cdr/dvd from their 2500 or 5000 and post all of the model numbers and any other text on stickers, etc etc.. we could probably figure out exactly who manufactures the drive and then find em with ease and for a fraction of the price.

we all know akai ain't making this stuff.

That's what I'm saying... If i have the 2500 I could do it but I use the 1K... anyways... If somebody can do it, just take some pics and let me know I know where to find those cd/rw very cheap... ~$25-35

Yeah thats pretty much Identical to the ones I bought.
But the connectors and Ribbon cable still have to be soldered on and made.

But also, that site doesnt specify price anywhere, or even say whether they have any in stock.

Plus they would be coming from China or Indonesia so the delivery time would be like 10-15 days.

That's really cool! you see!... Akai do not make his parts... so MPC2500 owners if you want to upgrade your mpc with a cd/dvd writer now you dont need to spend lot of money...

As far as i know on the 1k its impossible.
As far as the 2500 i belive there is problably other drives that should work if configured to slave i guess...

I cant speak for the 1000 at all, but on the 2500 I have used a Teac dw224, a panasonic, and another brand that I cant think of the name of right now.. all just need to be configured in slave mode as mentioned above.

They have them in a few colors, and if you ask them for a sample one they sell them for 25$ + shipping.

problem with that for most end users is it requires painstakingly soldering the 22 pin connector to the pcb and also having to separately wire power in as well. plus you need to also obtain the ribbon cables and connectors blah blah.
its a task. this is why alot of guys want to buy it already done for them and just drop in it, plug it up and go.

I asked that back on page 2, thanks for the answer. I'm debating on still doing it, though, (from another supplier) because I've run across a few color combos not available through the "ready-to-drop-in" usual suspects, such as white letters on a black background. I was also considering having an electronics shop do the soldering for me, as I've never done it before. If I do it, I'll just watch a youtube video. lol!
