Well ibeen thinking and hear that some of yall use recycle to chop up your drums and breaks. I thought that maybe i could use a turntable and mixer to sample drums breaks into my computer and chop them up in recyle so i can get some individual drums sounds(one-shots) like kicks snare crashes and then maybe take them into somtin like cooledit or soundforge and eq them and add effects.

Then use the turntable and sample melodies into cooledit or soundforge and timestretch them and put effects on them then save all this stuff to a zip disk and load it up into the mpc 2000xl im savin up for.

Plus some type of outboard effects processor!

It's gettin kind of redundant, but is this a good setup and a versitile setup?

This will work and do wonders for your production.. The only thing I'd change is EQing or compressing before the MPC... I did this a while ago and if you read my post "HELP My drums need Life" you'll see that I had to re-EQ and compress the drums ater and then everything was over-processed leaving me with horrible sounds...

I know it might sound kinda sh*tty right now in the MPC without EQ or Compression, but have faith... When you're ready to mixdown is when I'd EQ and Compress and add all your FX...

The only reason im incorperating some of this software is because i saw a screenshot of recyle and it had the drum loop mapped out in sections so u could see it. I am leaning towards soundforge because i used the demo and i liked it plus i could use it for mastering my beats and songs after i record them into the computer.


Now i was looking at one of those motu joints and i think its compatable with windows it has 8 analog ins perfect for hookin up a mpc So when i hit record on my computer and plaay on the mpc it wil l record the songg into the computer will i first have to assign a sound to a channel and then when i record each sound would be on a seperate audio track

Motu-
Plug your 8 outs from the MPC to 8 ins on the Motu (there are actually 10 analogue ins on the 828Mk2!)
assign each analogue in put on the motu to a "Channel" in your recording software. Then each part will be recorded seperately. Simple and effective.

The 828Mk2 just sits there and does it's job extremely well... and it is windowze compatible.
