School me on these two Inverters

Is the Top one (White Top) a OEM MPC 60 Inverter?

Can either one be repaired?

Any more info is welcomed.

Both are OEM Akai Inverters. Akai used the tin-can style first, but then replaced them with the potted Nichia one for their later equipment.

The top inverter is potted -- meaning that the components are sealed up in epoxy and are next to impossible to get at without damaging them. You would have to purchase a drop in replacement inverter from Akai to repair the top one.

The bottom inverter is the tin-can type -- you should be able to easily unsolder the RF shield and get to the components inside to repair them. If I remember correctly, the circuit inside is very simple and can be repaired using common electrical components.

The RF shield sometimes resonates, so you may need to add some solder to the shield or put some electrical tape on it to shift the resonance away...

is the top from a 3000 bottom from a 60?

The bottom one is from my MPC 60. The top one is from an MPC 60II i think.

I think The 3k has a different style inverter.

The 3k inverter is the same as the top one in your picture.
