Why do I need to STRIKE my pads so hard?

I think some OS 1 versions had similar problems with the pads. I remember I think version 4.43 or something having a similar pad issue. Where they were very unresponsive for me, then was fixed in the next version. I believe its possible for JJ to make both old and new pads work equally well. Its probably just a very delicate operation to get right. I have old pads that still work great on OS1. When I'm doing something simple for live use I always have to switch back because the pads are too slow to get my hits right. But, I think when OS2 gets into higher versions JJ will have this addressed for both old and new pads.

i know that this is an old thread and i apologize if there is info on the site somewhere, but i couldn't find it.
i am wondering if it's really necessary to buy the entire upgrade kit when you already have pads.
?

i thought that the sensors were the important thing to replace and not the pads, or is the rubber diff?

Yeah the rubber is different coz it's not individual pads anymore.

I have an MPC1000 which is about 18 months old. Some of the buttons have started to be temperamental so I have ordered replacements.

Not sure if my MP has the 'bad' pads. All I know is that 1 pad is starting to break down and will not respond unless full level is switched on.

Is there any way to check if you have bad pads or not. I saw a vid on youtube and the guy was saying you could tell by if the pads were bad or not if you open the MP and look at the pads (the pads could be separate or a single sheet but I don't recall which equated to the good or bad pads).

Any know the score?

Grab one of the pads and move it around. If the others move with it, it's one sheet. One sheet equels the new pads. I can already tell you that you do not have these. You have pad cancer my friend... Cemo just prolongs it. Get the new pads.

Am a bit nervous about opening up the MP and putting it back together!

Just ordered my new pads from MPCstuff. Aside from fixing my 1 dying pad I hope I notice the difference.

No need to be uptight. I didn't want to open mine at first either. Now I feel like an old pro. I've cracked this sucker open so many times, and if you have yours for a long time, you will too. It becomes second nature. After a while, some of your buttons will not work as well and you'll need to replace them. The good thing is that the parts for these machines are out there. Their relatively cheap and easy to find. Plus, your Mp can last for a long time.
And the pads... When I switched mine I loved them right away. Much softer. More like what I originally thought they would be like. Good luck.
Oh the one part that worried me was sticking the sensors to the metal plate. Not bad after all. Just take your time and do it right. You only get one chance... You'll know what I mean soon. Peace.

yeah that's what i'm worried about too, not looking forward to dealing with aligning the stickiness... you got any tips?
