MPC digital input ??!

Hi,

I've connected :
TASCAM soundcard DIGITAL IN <-----> DIGITAL OUT MPC 2000

it works perfectly !

I added a second Digital wire to do
TASCAM soundcard DIGITAL OUT <-----> DIGITAL IN of MPC 2000
in order to "sample" in the MPC some sounds played on the MPC.
When I go to [MODE] [RECORD] and put DIGITAL as input,
it doesn't work : the PC produces strange sounds and it cannot
synchornize the clock between MPC and TASCAM US1641...

Strange...

How to use the MPC DIGITAL IN with a soundcard ??

yes ! same sample rate. and spdif cable.

I've done another test in order to find where is the problem :

I disconnect MPC DIG OUT <-> TASCAM DIG IN
(I already know that this connection works...)
and RE-use this cable (I'm sure this cable is OKAY)
and
ONLY I connect MPC DIG IN <-> TASCAM DIG OUT

in this case, [MODE] [RECORD] [DIGITAL] shows nothing, no signal,
while something is going out from my Tascam !!


Any idea ?

Make the appropriate connections, shut down both the comp and the MPC and see if it works.

I know with my API pre amp If I connect or disconnect the SPIDF from Pro Tools or I change sample rates, I have to restart because I get all types of issues. Strange indeed tho.

I have a tascam fw-1082 and the exact same thing was happening to me. I had my cables flip flopped once and the other time my sample rates didnt match (the machine would change rates randomly). It seemed like it always acted funny hooked up this way so i just abandoned it. (Sample digitally into my S3000 sampler)

I've always had a problem with connecting BOTH the digital ins and outs at the same time to my Fireface 800.
I've tried everything, but succumed to the fact that I can only have one or the other and not both at the same time. It's to do with setting whether the mpc or the pc is master clock. If I connect both, then I either get digital clicking or all my samples turn into some weird sample rate. At the time everything sounds fine on my mpc, but then the next time I start it up, all my samples are slowed down to some strange sample rate
