Can this be fixed?

Yesterday I went to a music store and tried out an MPC 2500 there. The buttons and scroll wheel (not the pads) just feel much better on the other MPC. My buttons (Play, Stop, Next Sequence, Undo, etc.) just feel kind of crunchy and not stable. Can I fix this in any way? Can I do it by myself by taking the casing off?

if it were me I would remove the top cover and just clean everything out real well in there.
