Alright so i just copped an MPC 1000 off of craigslist for real cheap as a companion to my 500 and 2kxl. the pics showed it turned on. Only thing that looked f****d up was the case was a little rough and it was missing a qlink knob and one exterior piece of an output was missing. I turn it on and it autoloads the sh***y programs the new mpcs come with. Sequences play, but im assuming the pads are dead cuz no sounds are coming out when i go through the banks and i cant access any of the modes when i hit Mode+any of the pads (mode button just blinks). i know its typical for the ugly ass blue first series models pads' to die, but is it typical for all of them to be dead? without being able to access any modes, who knows what else could be wrong. Before i order the rip off "pad fix" for $175 just wanted to get some opinions on if its seems like just the pads are dead or could there be more serious issues? All the other functions that dont involve pads to access seem to work. any advice would be appreciated.

Well, after i typed this i realized one of the pads worked if you hit it really hard. I guess i should have phrased the question better(because i was pretty positive it the pads were dead)...those who have bought used mpc 1000s with faulty pads...once you got the pad fixed installed, did you find any other serious problems that may or may not be related to the faulty pads? I opened it up and it appears dude who had it before tried putting extra pieces of rubber for sensor contact...ie cut strips of rubber bands and some other thin rubber material. Im preety sure i checked the connections but i will recheck the connections again. Thanks mpcHunter.

yea checked all the connections and velocity...all but two pads are dead. looks like its time to spend some cash. Thanks for the advice.
