Since the thread is revived, here's an update on the original topic of the Beat Thang being delayed, and the pre-order program being canceled...

I liked the craziness that started at Winter NAMM, and did lots to try and help them succeed. I pre-ordered partially as an investment, to support them. The facts started conflicting with the marketing talk, but they're new and supposedly independent, so I tried to help and created opportunities for them to prove themselves. They didn't pass the tests.

With faith low, the product delayed, pre-orders no longer being taken, others already refunded, new products being released before the Beat Thang, no real purpose to pre-ordering since it doesn't give you anything special, it'd be foolish not to cancel the pre-order and wait to see where this goes. For all we know it won't ship until next year.

Aug. 6th - Pre-ordered for $1,011.00
Aug. 13th - Aja emailed, "I'm about to cancel your order refund your account ...".
Aug. 30th - Aja posted in his "last post on this forum", "Jamon we will be refunding your deposit Monday morning...... Maybe you can use the refund to go start your own company since you know soooo much. Good luck with that!"
Sep. 16th - Requested refund from Aja
Sep. 23rd - Nadir in PM, "There were other pre-orders. We've spoken with customers individually. I thought your refund was already in the works. I'll make sure we get the refund to you asap."

Today is Sep. 30th, a week after the last message, which said, "asap". What definition are they using? Still no sign of a refund. That's 2 weeks after telling Aja to go ahead with it. How difficult is it to press the refund button in PayPal? It takes minutes.

I still don't hate the Beat Kangz as some here seem to do, and will never join in the group mockery of them (as funny and clever as some of it is), but anyone has to admit there are some real issues with their actions and track record.

Akai is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with, but it's clear now the Beat Kangz are not the great alternative they claimed to be. Both have major flaws in how they do things. Both don't seem to have much of a future.

Jamon....why do you leave out all that happened between August 6th and August 13th?

Like you posting a link to the full software on your blog, which you were asked to take down, no?

Because it's irrelevant?

It explains why he was threatened with a lawsuit by this small independent company. So no, it';s not irrelevant at all.

Apparently Beat Thang fans exhibit the same delusional behavior as Aja. I've edited the post to make the word refund bold in all the dates so people can hopefully realize what the timeline of events is about, and removed the part of the quote not specifically related to the refund so paranoid people don't suddenly jump into a defensive posture as if it is a personal attack.

You have to ask yourself though, what it means when one of the only supporters of the Beat Thang on this forum can't even notice the obvious pattern that the post was entirely about how long it takes them to actually refund a pre-order. That is a warning sign about their inabilities to conduct business. It is not a personal attack, merely facts.

No, I don't make beats. Despite the name, "Beat Thang", it should be able to be used for other things.

As expected, since they're monitoring this thread, just received an email... and now just received PayPal refund.

I think you should have gotten your refund a lot sooner than now, but at least you finally have it back.

I make 3.2 beats per week. Is that sufficient? Or do you require more before I respond to your post?
