Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi Guys,

Haven't been on here in a minute, but thought I'd give this a shot.

I have a 2kXL w/ card reader mod (done myself), the 8 out, and FX card.

I'm trying to track out a beat through my 8 out, but no sound appears to be coming from the 8 outs.

I'm not a noob, and have gone into the mixer, assigned channels to my sounds, made sure they have level, etc. I'm still getting sound coming out of my main stereo outputs, but nothing is coming out the 8 outs.

When I turn the MPC off, my audio interface (MIO 2882) seems to register that it was receiving a signal from the 8 out channels (by popping), but I'm still not receiving any sounds despite the fact they've been assigned.

I've encountered this problem before - it seemed to first manifest itself when I installed the card reader. Could this be an issue with the newest MPC OS (v1.2)? It seems to that something is wrong with the internal software routing or something...

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

MCD's can still run on 1.14, try that. I have an mcd in my 2kxlse2 and I've never had any problems but i don't use cards over 512mb either. If you use cards 1gb THEN you will need 1.20, other than that you don't need it.

Try that.

Thanks Lamp.

Unfortunately I loaded up OS 1.14 last night to give it a shot, and it didn't work.

The OS seems to recognize that the 8 out is there (ie I can select channels 1 through 8 when in the Mixer window, on the "Indiv" setting), but the MPC is not sending any sound out of the individual outputs. Sound still comes out the main outs though.

I opened up the MPC to make sure the 8 out was connected properly, and it was (I un-plugged and re-plugged it in), turned it back on again and the 8 outs still don't work.

Any other suggestions?

Any more thoughts on this problem? I'm going crazy here...

I need to track out a beat that a bunch of tempo changes and do NOT want to have to deal with MIDI sync. I have to do this all in one go with the 8 outs...and the fact that I bought the thing new (from Armen, in NYC) and it's not working 2 years later is a piss off too...

If you want a quick fix but not use the 8 outs, or midi sync, then add a sequence to the beginning. Put a snare or any sound and don't mute it on any track you track out. Line that sound up and every track should come out the same as it sounded on the mpc, even though you didn't midi sync.
